How much does ethics and mannerism matter at workplace?

Hi all, I have noticed that the experienced senior people around me [ ICs, EMs, etc ] have too much work and they are always in a work mode. Seeing them makes me wonder whether I would want to be like them in the future. All the senior experienced people here, how stressful / hectic / difficult is your work life as you move up the corporate ladder? Is it even worth it to chase meaningless numbers, and promotions, and grow up the career ladder?

There should be a policy to atleast do some YOGA on daily basis guided by baba ramdev for atleast an hr within working hours 1- It increases your focus 2- It increases productivity 3- It creates good work culture 4- It motivates progressive mindset Tcs must have flexible working hours no matter its of any domain or bpo.. Even service desk and L2 people need to breathe. Management should consider this seriously if they are looking for actual results. This step will surely ensure that tcs cares for employees and is employee specific. Health is everything 😊

AMA about what actually goes behind those rangolis in the HR dept and work that better compensated people in HR do.

Note - I am a product manager too 4 out of 5 product managers will act all high and mighty of themselves, bragging their way as if they run everything going on in the company, flaunting their business degrees and being utterly disrespectful towards their team( dev design qa name it), Recently started going to office so the attitude I am seeing is very transparent and more visible (more with the higher experience folks) It makes me wanna leave this hyper inflated role, thinking of I will end up like them scares me, and you have to do is speak out jargons in meetings day in day out and have a English accent of Shashi Tharoor. Recently my manager told that this is a role where you have to very representable or very visible and act in floor as if you are the busiest person on earth and I seriously some PMs in company doing that, they walk so fast in floor as if they will fall off or would be better to have 4 legs.

In my corporate experience, I have observed two kinds of leaders - 1) A hard task master, very high on IQ but more often than not low on EQ and 2) High on EQ, above avg on IQ. I as a manager/ leader fall under 2) and usually get work done without authority but I do experience at times, some peers and reportees taking advantage of my behaviour In my view, anecdotally I see type 1) leaders succeed more in corporates even if it comes at the cost of facing flak/hate from directs/indirects. One of my previous managers was unpopular for his toxicity but somehow I kind of built a decent bond with him. Once over drinks and dinner, he candidly told me, I'm not here in this organization for making friends and I'm here only to get results and he did deliver on results every year. My question is, can type 2 leaders even climb up the ladder specially where cut throat competition exists. Sometimes I do feel I need to be more like type 1 leaders obviously not at the cost of toxicity - disrespect, shouting etc. What are your thoughts?

Can you grow your career by displaying honesty at work? Do you think manipulative people are most successful at work? What category do you think you come under? Honest or Manipulative? If people at work, force you to be manipulative, would you accept it for the sake of your own career growth?

Symptoms of being ‘too nice’ to people at work: - Overuse of gratitude words like Thank you, please, could you, kindly, etc on all forms of communication at work. - Registering your reactions like thumbs up & clap to literally every chat message in slack/teams/discord channels at work. - Praise excessively on meetings like retrospectives, etc. - Replying ‘thank you’ to every individual person who wished you or congratulated you for some occasion, especially in WhatsApp groups. Have you ever introspected why you are ‘too nice’ to people instead of just being ‘nice’ to people?
