What if a company conducted 9/10 rounds of interviews over 2/3 months and ghosted at the last round? What would you do? Why would any company do that ?

Two years back I was interviewing for Udaan.
8 rounds of interviews and at the end got to know, they are not ready to pay the expected CTC. Dint even offer esops which could have made the offer lucrative. Hiring manager called me separately and was trying to convince me to take the offer.
Dodged the bullet 🙃
