Nowadays companies tend to take 5-6 rounds of interview and One of my friends had gone through a similar procedure for 3 companies now- all into Fintech(one is a big MNC doing good and the other ones are startup) initially they moved forward with the CTC although they didn't have the budget and after 6 rounds of interview(5 general rounds and 1 to be more sure). I don't know how you cannot be sure of someone after 6 rounds of interview and why companies are not transparent about the CTC they can afford. It has happened to a lot of my known SDEs including myself. Just wanted to vent out, just because of the ongoing market conditions, companies are troubling the candidates a lot. Did you guys also have similar experiences?

One of the companies simply has put my profile on hold from January and on calling I get to know they are discussing my CTC. She is not even rejecting the candidature but asking me to wait so that they can get someone with a lower CTC than me.
I interviewed for 5 rounds at Amazon, including bar raiser in early feb. I was told that they are going to release offer letter. The next day I was told that they moved ahead with an internal candidate because he was in the same role in a different team. I was then told that bar raiser suggested me for a different role. Now the recruiter says that I'll have to wait for a month. They're not rejecting also. I'm fed up at this point. 😑 extremely disappointed
And cherry on top, whenever I pinged her for updates she used to get irritated like a dhfdebsnsn😤

Phonepe recently laid me off giving a bullshit reason that they can't even defend but I have moved on. They are hiring people who are good bargain or urgent requirement that's why their hiring has not stopped for 3 years. Btw internal cost cutting is going on.
I could have build a great career if I hadn't joined phonepe as I had good offers from reputed companies. I am still looking out and yet to find something.
