I have this fear too. That's why I am hesitating from putting in my papers and taking a break. I guess it's a matter of confidence.

Frustrated

Hi folks, 

I have been part of one company for 9 years. I feel like bored and mundane.  I am trying to switch jobs for past one and half year and unable to crack any interviews. Each interview slips because of some reason. Now my current company based on my performance asked me to find job somewhere else within in few months.. I am still unable to clear interviews.. Sometimes feel very downward because of this but deep inside I feel like I am more worth than this.. Market is also so uncertain now.. My salary is 32L.. I feel like I am stuck in my career. Any advice or recommendation?

Finding difficult to clear interviews

Hello grapeviners. 

I was recently interviewing at a big MNC and gave 5 rounds of interviews. (4 Tech, 1 Managerial). I did fairly well in the interviews (according to me).
Got rejected in the end and received no feedback... Just a generic rejection mail.

How do you guys keep up with failures like these?
Whenever I give interviews at a good company and perform well, I tend to imagine myself as a future employee in that company and how my life would be after joining there... and it really breaks my heart when I get rejected. This happened to me few times before as well and I still have no idea how to move on from feelings like these.

Really interested to know what do you folks do in situations like these... How do you calm yourself down?

I've been working for more than a year now at my current org and want to switch due to the poor support and management and no learning opportunities, that said I'm very much interested in FE dev(not just for short term, but I want to make it as a career in the long term as well) and have been learning(good ol React, html-css, js/ts) from the past 2 years and have built some projects and a portfolio.
Now comes the job market, straight up rejecting me mercilessly(I did get shortlisted in a few, but both ended up ghosting me afterwards), this has been going on for a few months now.
I am lost thinking what to do now 🥲, please fellow FE devs and devs in general guide me with your wisdom

How's the Job Market 😔

I think about seriously quitting my job atleast once every few months but I've stuck it out here for almost 3 years now.

I don't know if it's just me but the idea of putting myself out there and starting afresh at a new company is just terrifying -  the struggle to find something exciting but stable, being evaluated at interviews all over again, the uncertainty of fitting into a new team and having to prove myself all over again at a new work place - all of this just puts me off from taking any real action

I see everyone around me talking about career growth and taking up new opportunities. And rationally, I get it.  I get that there are tons of benefits to changing jobs - better salary, escaping a toxic workplace, etc. etc. I truly admire people who make these frequent shifts - seriously, how do people navigate this?

 We, in service based have to give interviews every now and then as the project changes. So as a byproduct we are kind of used to interviews 😂 (cry aa rha)

I can't be the only one who had this thought

It’s been 11 months since I joined my first job. Being from an IIT, I only did DSA in college and got this job paying a decent 20lpa base salary. But when I first joined here I was put at bench for the first 6 months. I always used to ask for work but got very vague work of writing python scripts. Finally I was put in a project but the work mostly involves utilising python and MATLAB. I have started doing DSA again and learning MERN stack. I am applying to a lot of jobs but apparently my resume is not getting shortlisted anywhere. I want to make this switch but my biggest fear is that if I will be able to get an offer which matches this salary. Any advice how to get out of this situation ?

I've interviewed with multiple companies, and I'm starting to notice a pattern. 

Interviewers who:
- Have their cameras off
- Show up in old t-shirts, looking like they haven't washed their face or combed their hair
- Roll their eyes when the answer isn't what they wanted to hear
- Fidget around when you are speaking
- Look anywhere but at the camera
- Give in to itches all over the body 👀 
among many others 

If we as interviewees are expected to be presentable and excited, the least interviewers could do is put in a little effort to appear decent and engaged.

Is Interviewer vibe a thing?

So I left my job at one of the big 4s few months ago. Will discuss the reason some other time.
But one of the issues I'm facing right now is that I never felt good in the corporate environment.
Bosses shouting at you for your mistakes, you feel threatened to stand up against your own boss since they unfortunately have too much power.

You need to take permission for leaves. People can be rude to you and you need to maintain your calm.
The corporate politics.

Then I left big 4 for some reasons. Took a short break.

And now I'm working in one of the Indian firms. They have such policies that your TAT cannot be more than 5 minutes. You cannot log off before 8 pm. If you login after 5 minutes of the actual login time, then you would be marked as absent. Sometimes you're given deadlines which are very difficult to manage and hence you remain stressed out with your work. You don't have the freedom in your work and need to do everything as it has been told.

So I don't really feel good in corporates. I feel there is too much pressure and it is just making me feel more and more sad. I don't feel myself anymore and I feel like a puppet.

Does anyone else feel the same?
How do I deal with this feeling?
It scares me to think about how I have just started my career 3-4 years ago and need to work for the significant years of my life and I don't want to wake up  and sleep with this feeling EVERYDAY.

I think this is the first time I'm talking about it. If anyone would like to share their thoughts, or guide me regarding how do I feel better, or anything you feel I'm doing wrong and could be improved, then I'm all ears. Let's talk it out.

I'm feeling sad in corporates

Recently seeing alot many posts on LinkedIn about companies and startups are hiring interns in large numbers for core functions like tech, product, biz etc.

Am I the only one who is thinking that companies simply want to get the work done using these interns and avoiding hiring full time employees? Signs of not to good days.

Also winter internships were not these common or were they? 🫤

I just finished an interview with ServiceNow for a senior software engineer role and writing this up.

Anger rushed through my body after finishing the interview for multiple reasons.

reasons:
1. The interviewer joined 10 minutes late and he was very lethargic.
2. The questions he asked regarding my current job were very basic and then I realized that he should be fresher or should have 2 - 3 years of experience.
3. After the interview I checked his profile on LinkedIn and he was a 2021 graduate (as I guessed).
4. I don't understand why an organization assigns software engineers (2.5 YOE) as interviewers for hiring a senior software engineer(8+ YOE). It doesn't make sense to me.
5. Then the interviewer asked a basic DSA question, and I gave him the solution, now he was not familiar with the Python language hence intrigued about the implementation of the heapify in Python. I explained to him how Heapify works but still, he could not understand what it is.
6. The part I got pissed off is the interviewer's attitude of him knowing everything.
7. The interview was scheduled for 1 hour and we went overtime, it's okay to go overtime by 5-10 minutes., But this guy is taking more than 20 minutes. He din't have basic ethics of valuing candidate's time.

This is not my first interview with ServiceNow, this is my second and I had same feelings in the first interview as well.

It's okay for me to not grab this opportunity, but think about someone who is really struggling to get a job during this tough time, because of the interviewer being lethargic.

Hope ServiceNow focuses on their interviewing system and improves it.

ServiceNow interview is shit 💩

Same as title. These days due to low job security and having faced layoff last year, I always feel the need to continuously do interview prep like DSA, LLD, etc even when I am not actively looking for a job. Plus, due to new technologies coming up, I feel the need to keep upskilling too. If I don't upskill or do interview prep continuously, I feel guilty as if I am wasting time. I feel like at this point, I am just living life to upskill and interview prep. Is there a way to balance all this along with work as it gets very tiring after a while and I feel burnt out?

How do guys balance daily work and upskilling?

Thinking of quitting everyday because job is not something I like.

So basically like every time I see a job vacancy I do apply for it.. But I'm not sure why I never get any calls back Or mails and these days I only see vacancies where they want only experienced people like more than 5 or 10.. I mean...where am I going wrong in this job hunt... I'm having 2 yrs of exp where I have wasted 1 yr being in bench so I could say I didn't get a lot of insight for my yrs of exp.... It sucks tho.... 😢 where should I start now what should I do? Completely blank...
