Any generalists here?

I'm in serious trouble. I was an sde for 3+ years. Didn't like it, thought it's not meant for me and wanted a different job. Came across Product management, which piqued my interest. Somehow found a contract job at a startup and did it for a year. While it's not a traditional PM, it was more of a project manager. The contract ended, now I'm unemployed. Applied for jobs, no luck. Now I'm questioning my career choices, should I stick with PM or should I go back to being a techie. I definitely don't want to go back to coding, but I'm thinking of doing something like IAM/okta/cyberark stuff. Experienced folks, please help. I literally don't know where am I headed in life

Hello Everyone, I am a 2018 BTech (NIT) pass out and 2022 IIM pass out with a total of 2.2 years of Workex (1.2 yrs post-MBA) and currently working as an Associate Product Manager. I am not really enjoying my role and I feel Product Management is not suitable for me because of multiple reasons some of them being, 1. I am doing issue resolutions rather than problem-solving which I love to do. 2. I am not very much interested in driving technical discussions or solving technical challenges in the process of Product Development which is the case in my current role. 3. I want to be part of a Business role where I can leverage the knowledge I have gained during my MBA and work on some problem statements related to the core businesses of the company. 4. There is no skin in the game of a PM compared to Devs, QAs, and Designers. As a PM I feel I am just delegating, prioritizing, and following up with the requirements. Most of my learnings are around managerial aspects and not business knowledge. 5. I want to be a part of business roles where I can go deeper into problems and come up with my recommendations/thoughts on them. I am looking for new roles where Strategy, Analysis and Core Business Problem solving are involved. I am really not sure what kind of roles are these. Please help me with the roles I can explore and how to approach the job search for such kinds of roles. Thanks In Advance.

Please guide I'm lost I don't know what interests me the most I want to know reality check of all 3 roles - Salary, work life balance, growth. Share your thoughts it'll help. I've currently 2.5y of Experience as Software Engineer in Accenture but I played many roles in project - Testing, Development, Client Demos. Now I'm just lost whichvdirection should I go considering it has good future and not over saturated/fear of being replaced by AI?

I'm a generalist with 4 YOE, earning 17 LPA. Skills include but are not limited to: Nodejs, ReactJs, AWS, Jenkins, Docker and Linux. People in my company involve me in everything that requires solving problems. I have worked on multiple stacks beyond what I've mentioned and trained / guided junior to intermediate level of engineers I'm searching for a new job, but I don't see companies having a dire need for generalists. This is partly because generalists don't command enough confidence unless deployed on a project to work their magic (or so is what I believe) People having or knowing people in my techstack, do you think it is possible to expect a salary of 30 LPA ? Or is specialization an inevitable next step to take ? Also, how should I position myself in interviews ? Your thoughts will be appreciated.

Hi All I have 2.5 YOE as an analyst, currently working as an senior product analyst with CTC of 15L fixed + 5L ESOPs. I have only been in product since start of career and have a set path to becoming an APM at my firm by next cycle in Dec. Recently I wanted some building experience and I have built a few web and mobile apps and I found coding is very interesting. I’m having thoughts about switching careers because of 2 reasons: 1) Money - although I believe I’m underpaid (cause I received offers of 22L fixed for role of product analyst in past but chose not to switch because of market volatility.) But in long run, I believe being tech is going to make a lot more money compared to product roles (I have friends with 1-2 YOE making 26L fixed) and the remote opportunities. 2) Skills Product is mostly soft skills and tech is more hard skills driven. With amount of layoffs in PM roles, I think tech is just a safer bet. Also given I don’t hate coding. I think I would happily code compared to doing things like user calling/ making review decks/ following up with other teams meticulously/ writing PRDs. One specific question I have is: what are things in tech role that are not very fun to do but still part of JD?

Almost 4 years since I am working in various sales and BD roles post MBA. Have worked with FMCG and Ecomm companies. Done with chasing numbers everyday and looking for some strategic / mindful work. What are the possible next roles other than sales? Note - not looking for category/account management sort of roles. Been there, done that.

Hey folks, recently have found myself on career crossroads. Not sure what kind of career paths generalists have after certain YoE. Are there some generalists on the platform with more than 6-7 YoE who can throw light on what kind of roles are available to generalists after a certain level? Ideally, would want to look at big tech cos. Current profile: 5yrs post mba work ex in consulting + startups.
