Any software engineers in Bangalore tried opening a restaurant/cafe?

I am planning to open a QSR restaurant/cafe in Bangalore. Need some insights on restaurant business in Bangalore -

  1. How are the rents in areas like Koramangala/Indiranagar for a small QSR cafe?
  2. How much does it cost to setup a fully operational QSR cafe like Rameshwaram?(approx in lakhs)
  3. What are the monthly operation costs? (Rents, salaries, stock)
  4. Do we need a lot of local contacts to set up a restaurant?
  5. Is it possible to operate a restaurant along with a full time software job?
  6. Is QSR cafe a better alternative to building a non profitable start-up?

I have thought of some good USPs for the QSR. But, I am really confused whether I should go ahead with it or not. Please give your inputs.

People often lose their shirt when they do F&B business full time.

You are pretty much guaranteed to lose money if you are going to be doing it part time.

If atleast one founder is full time, there is a 20-30% chance of the business surviving.

Everytime in any convo I had in Bangalore about opening a restaurant/cafe/brewery it ended up in that you need some local backup/partner and need to know the language for some reason

I can see new cafes/restaurants coming up almost every week in Koramangala/Indiranagar/hsr. Do you think all these restaurants are being opened with the help of a local partner?

Very difficult and cutthroat business, you should ideally partner with someone who has qsr experience.
