I have been working heavily on FE for the past 2 years and our product has grown/changed a lot without any sort of test cases. Now it's a bit difficult for us to estimate the impact areas without going through several files and deep into code sometimes. 

With fast changing requirements/updates to the existing logic, I guess we will start spending more time on fixing breaking cases but eventually it would lead to a better setup and flow.

Wanted to know, how your experience has been in such cases and whether your firm/teams do write test cases.

I am an Android developer with several years of experience in the industry. Unfortunately, I've noticed a concerning trend in the quality of software, particularly among apps from so-called unicorn startups and top multinational corporations. Many of these apps are riddled with bugs that seem to slip through the QA process. Here are some examples of reproducible issues I've encountered:

1. In Paytm, when navigating to train bookings and accessing the PNR section, attempting to copy the PNR may result in the screen freezing upon scrolling up, with a blank white screen appearing when scrolling down.
2. Within the train module on Paytm, if the application process is terminated, an infinite loader may appear, and returning to the previous screen may lead to a white screen.
3. PhonePe recently addressed a blank screen issue on the payments page when the process was terminated.
4. PhonePe also fixed an issue where an infinite loader appeared when checking UPI balance, especially after the process was terminated on the UPI pin screen and the back button was pressed.
5. YouTube experiences sporadic crashes when the application process is terminated while using YT Shorts.
6. Instagram had countless bug in the past.
7. Reddit backstack management and deeplinks are hell.
8. Hostar has no security. I was able to decompile and make a debug build with code changes with my novice reverse engineering skills. The room database is even not encrypted. 

It does seem like some companies are conducting testing just for the sake of it.

How are the codebases structured for your company? Is it common for companies to produce spaghetti code? Do all companies rely on manual testers.

TLDR; what does the codebase look like in your company? Are the tests adequately written, and to what extent?

So i was asking questions to one engineer manager about quality analyst. I asked her how sdet as field in general as i already have 5 years of experience in QA field. Learning side by side coding for a next switch. She said do something else except QA as in her experience, her previous companies do not have QA team itself. So i am little confused as a career path. So wanted to ask how you guys software at your workplace and does sdet role will have significance in this market in future?

Its been around a year since I've started working in a service based company as a Frontend dev, WLB, compensation and all is good based on I've just started.
During this year of working I do not feel like I've done anything, our team is working on a product for past 2-3 year and its nearing the completion. My role was mostly to cordinate with testing team and solve frontend bugs and minor addition to the project (which was mostly copy pasting), even doing these minor task took me some time initially and I still have to take help from seniors time to time. 
I got kinda bored with all the repetitive task and I requested my manager to assign me to other development happening within team, he agreed and assigned me some different task but I cant seem to understand anything here, 
I get stuck in the most basic things, I feel stupid when I am not able to come up with easy solutions.

I am seeing other engineers learning new tech stacks in a small amount of time and getting hold of it while i am not able to understand things in my own tech stack.

I've recently gotten a appraisal as well(my company is quite good and gives it to everyone) and I feel like I don't deserve a bit of it.

 I am a 2023 graduate , I did MCA because that was the only good option I could see for myself(mostly cz of money) at that time earlier to that I did a bachelor's (Non CS) without gaining any knowledge of anything.
My basics are not that good, In college my only focus was to get a job so I did DSA and some front-end development using ReactJS(projects mostly code along with ytube) to be able to grab a good placement.

Is software engineering not for me? If no, then how do I overcome this, i don't wanna be a mediocre.

Am I a bad engineer?

Can anyone help me how to tackle b2b products especially dashboards ux problem statements because most of the time i cannot find references to understand how other products solved some kind of issue

While in B2C it looks so easy and user research is also easier to find..

Hi, I have 3yoe and have been in a lot of testing and support project.
I started my career with Capgemini. Was put in a testing project. Spent 2 years in api and ui testing.
Never really learned anything as there wasn't any scope, just did what was necessary.
This year switched to cognizant and got good hike.
But here also I'm put in a support project .
I monitor etl pipelines and if a particular pipeline fails run a couple of query to bring it up.
That's all.

I wanted to know if I study Java or python and practice in leetcode will I be able to switch to a developer profile.

Current CTC 8.4 LPA
YOE 3.

Need suggestion on career.

Software QA(Automation) having 3 yrs of exp with Salary 12LPA , thinking of switching to Backend dev role . Although here are my few queries : 

1. Is QA domain good in long run with respect to salary .
2. Will Dev role be difficult to adapt , as i have exp in development but only in writing test scripts .
3. How much should i expect the staring dev salary to be as compared to my current CTC ?
4. Is it a good switch , say if i stay in QA domain for 2 more years then i guess CTC would be around the ball park of 18 - 20 LPA . But if i switch to dev and gain 2 years of exp will it be able to match the salary of QA ?

In my current organization, while we are testing any new project, we are getting around 200+, 300+0 bugs including UI / Ux and backend. Continuously retesting and regression happens 

So is it our duty to do the testing in details everytime or they should improve their practices of coding. ?
