Hello everyone, please help me with this dicey situation.
My friend A recently joined one of the clients which were linked with his previous employer,The Agency. Though he didn't directly switch from the agency to the client, but had 2-3 months experience at a whole new Startup which wasn't related to the agency, but the issue is that the same agency is still working with the said Client. Though it wasn't mentioned at the time of joining in the agency, that a non competition clause is there, but the policies were revised, and honestly no one heed attention to it. So as stated, no one could switch to the client side within a year after leaving the agency. 
He worked so hard in the agency, that the client themselves approached him to join them when they got to hear about his resignation.

Could you all please help a fellow here??
Would the agency take any action against it? There is no action taken by the agency right now, but the news of him joining the client definitely wreaks  havoc in the agency, especially between the incompetent people working there.

Please give suggestions regarding how to defend the job, and also if any of you faced any such things in the past!

So, I've been struggling mentally from this company for the past few months due to their toxic policies and resigned last week! They didn't pay the retention bonus that was supposed to be paid in June stating the financial situation and now forcing me to complete the notice period also!(2 months) which is there in the contract but mentally I'm burnt out and have said the same to CTO as well as HR but they don't want to understand! I'm also unsure whether the salary of these notice period months will come( this company has a history of not paying) so, skeptikal in the serving notice period knowing I won't get any money.

I want to have a lawyer who can go through my employment contract so I understand better the options I have with me!

Any help is greatly appreciated  please!!🥺

I'm a 2021 graduate from a tier 3 college. I was working at a small startup based in Bengaluru that is into SAAS. The headcount is less than 20 and a completely remote job.

I don't have any notice period. I was told that I can leave the company whenever I want without any prior notice. And it's not mentioned anywhere in the contract. I had a promotion due in September 2022 in which the new agreement was supposed to be implemented where I had to serve a 90 day notice period and salary hike of 15% of my current CTC.

But the promotion was put on hold till now. I asked them multiple times but I was told that it's on hold indefinitely due to "shortage of funds".

On December 31st I sent a resignation letter as it will be my last working day. Even though it was a very short notice, I completed all the documentation about the things I worked on. Anyone who can understand English can deploy the entire product. And moreover everyone had worked on the product and almost everyone had a good understanding of the product. 

Sometime in 2021, I received a bonus of 62k which was sent to my personal bank account (the company itself didn't have a corporate account back then). Since the company didn't provide me any work laptop, I was told casually that I can use the bonus to purchase a new laptop or keep it to myself.

I made a mistake of now waiting to get the December month salary before resigning. Now he's telling me that the bonus he sent is for the company laptop and it will be adjusted as my December month salary. When I asked about the purpose of the bonus was not to get the company laptop but to keep it myself, he's refusing to accept it. (Almost everyone in the company uses their personal laptop).

And coincidentally there was a service outage as the company uses free services wherever available (for example, oracle cloud free tier, free version of slack, GitHub and lot more). Continued in comments....

Hi, People of Grapevine!

About 6 months ago I made a post looking for suggestions on whether I should quit a work project that paid me 1.5L per month. 
I’m happy to report not only did I quit that company shortly after, but I got an offer from a sort of a mentor to work at a Dubai based law firm (remote, of course). To months ago, I also got two new clients on retainer for 1.5L each. 

The firm is quite good, unlike traditional Indian law firms, and the work pressure is not super intense. However, I feel like I’ve come to realise… I just hate working “for” someone else. With my personal clients, I have a sense of “freedom”. Like I can work from any part of the world, but with the firm, I feel this sense of being “bound”. I’m bound to my desk from morning until evening. I haven’t been able to visit events and even though I usually would be working anyway, I would sometimes work from a relative’s place, sometimes go out with my family or if need be, or even travel! There are a couple of business events and conferences I missed out on as well. 
The thing is… I’ve never really worked in a traditional law firm or office. Even though, this isn’t a traditional law firm either, it’s the closest I’ve come to and I’m wondering if the fact that I want to quit within barely 6 months speaks something larger about my ability to work? 

I know I am ambitious and I want to become the go-to expert in my field of work, do you guys think by being unable to work in a firm or office setup like this, I would be hampering that? Also, I’m good at what I do, great, infact. But of course, to a lot of people the “firm” tag matters. 
I also acknowledge that this might be the only time in my life I can really work “under” someone as I feel later in life it might be too late. I guess, I’m wondering… Would quitting and focussing on my practice and choosing only client based work hamper my career growth in any way?

I need your help for a verbal/ official referral. I’m a ‘23 science graduate. I initially took up contractual jobs (not that I had an option) and I am applying for jobs since 2023 March but no luck. Recently, a company sent me a draft offer and I kept pinging the HR for a final offer to which they kept saying “soon”. When I sent them an email for the same (after 1.5 month of sending the draft offer), they replied saying the position is on hold and they will contact if and when the post reopens.
I’m very depressed because as everyone I too have biils to pay. Please help me with anything that you can do - guidance, referral or anything!

At Nexus(our startup), we're passionate about revolutionizing the way people invest in Stocks and crypto. But as any startup founder can attest, the path to success is often filled with obstacles.

Recently, we encountered a significant roadblock in our quest for funding. A potential investor turned us down, citing that hit us hard: we didn't have a fully functioning MVP.

Now, you might be wondering, what exactly our MVP was showing? Well it wasn't the flashy trading platform we dream of. Instead it considered a basic interface with stock prices displayed here and there. The cold reality is that users couldn't buy or sell any assets, nor could they access other advanced features. Why, you ask ?

The answer lies in the complex regulatory landscape of the financial industry. To facilitate the trading functionality, a platform must obtain a SEBI license. This license requires rigorous compliance with financial regulations, and crucially proof of "financial backing". 

Investors won't understand that we need a significant amount of funding to take off. Without it, we'd be swimming in the shallow waters.
