I’ll be leaving my current company in next few days. I can retain my work laptop at the market price of ₹ 94,500. It is a 11 month old 16 inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip. Is this a good deal considering that the new one would fetch somewhere around ₹2.3 lakhs.

It is available for 65k (8gb/256gb) on Amazon after cash back and there will be further discounts in the coming sale. Is it a good buy in 2023? My usage is mostly browsing, emails, and excel work. My office has PCs and we don’t work remote so I don’t really need it for WFH. Or should I shell out 40k extra and buy MBA M2. Already have iPhone, watch and AirPods. If I want to go for 16gb / 512gb then the difference would be 40k again!

First round happened in March. 130-140 engg.
Around 40 engg were fired.
Then some silent layoffs happened in different teams like hr. 
Then Few good enggs left the company.
This week another round happened with around 20-25 enggs

Hi All,

Looking to buy a laptop to dive deep into full stack development - java, spring, queue,  cache, db etc, along with light react js. 
Will set up distributed components in local and/ or free tier AWS as well.
Also, consume Netflix content over weekends.

Considering laptops with 16gb ram, 512 SSD -
1. Mac mini 1.3 lacs or
2. Dell/HP/MSI with Linux- 1 -1.2 lac or
3. Mac Book Pro M2 - 2 lacs/2.5 lacs

With office mac Book Pro, the experience has been super smooth, but I am looking to get the most value on investment , and do not want to compromise on dev productivity.

Any suggestions folks? Those who have done similar work and have had a smooth experience, please share your experience.

I am planning to get a personal laptop, and I want to go for mac this time. I am from dev background, so I am looking for atleast 16GB of RAM with 256/512GB SSD. But I am not sure if it's worth to go for a new M2 or settle for 2019/20 Intel pro's

1: Macbook pro 2019 i7 16/512 ~ 45-50k (refurbished)
2: Macbook air M1 16/255 ~1.2L (over budget)

Will the 2019 i7 macbook pros survive for the next 3-4 years? Or should I increase my budget and go for m1/m2?
