Market at current times is not favorable. Better to keep on doing the job and do something that interests you paralelly and take a break when market gets better (probably after an year or so)

Hello everyone, currently I am in a service based company earning 9 lpa as a frontend developer(React) for 4 months. Before that I was in Tcs for 1.5 years. I am not happy in the current project. Changing project is not possible. I am thinking of resigning and taking 5-6 months to start freelancing as frontend/full-stack developer or start preparing for product based companies. 

What are your opinions?

I am considering taking a 6-month break from my career. Currently, I have 2 years of experience in the IT sector. I would like to know if it is feasible to re-enter the IT industry after this break. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is it advisable to take a break to switch jobs if you have a hard time preparing while having one ? How significant will be the impact on my profile. Financially I am well placed and can afford to take one.

Details for context: 
YOE - 3 yrs
Profile - Software Engineer (duh)
Techstack - C#, .NET, SQL server, JS.
Current Pay - ~20 LPA.

I worked as a SWE for 2.5 years at an Indian MNC, I honestly didn't like the project as my daily work used to on a legacy technology, My manager never approved me (or anyone for that matter) to move to a different project with good tech stack and challenging workspace. So, resignation was my only choice without any backup offer, which I chose and later I unfortunately had to undergo a surgery, My doctor had advised me to take 3 months break from everything and stay home. It's been 6 monts since I left my job, currently I am revising the concepts of Java (Core & Advanced), SQL, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap along with Spring Boot. My problem is do recruiters consider my profile, even if I get an opportunity, do recruiters consider my salary negotiation, and does my career break affect the hiring process? Please guide me. Thank you in advance!

Hello good folks of grapevine, I am very confused with my situation right now. I am currently working at a consumer tech unicorn in a strategy role but really burnt out with the working environment. I have no clarity on my roles and responsibilities which keeps changing every week. I am not learning much either. My current job is consuming me completely. I don't get to upskill myself. Therefore, I am stuck in this vicious cycle where I want to leave my organization to work in a better environment along with skilled colleagues. However, to do this, I will have to upskill myself.

Would love to hear your experience if you have been in a similar situation. How did things turn out for you eventually?

People who have left a job without another lined up, how have things worked out for you?

Been in Bangalore for 6+ years and love everything the city has given me. 
This city ( more like people here) taught me what software engineering and product sense is, how to entrepreneurs function, whats a 100X coder like. 
Made many memories, weekend trips to nearby places were so nice. Dated, moved in and then married my girlfriend, adopted a dog. So Bangalore has given me a lot. 
But in hindsight it takes a way a lot also - 
1. Everybody is in constant work mode, even in parties its just about who is doing what
2. Everybody is in loot mode here - i have seen locals pay less for veggies/fruits in front of me, then the veggies apparently have lead in them
3. Rents/builders/brokers/roads - we all know whats up with them 

Though it was nice initially, now i feel like even after earning so much ( ctc > 1cr) if i just spend it all here ( monthly expenses ~2lacs same is with all my married friends), what is the point even.

Hence making a move to slow life now, where you get a house with garden for 25k and fresh veggies and you can actually develop some relationship with community. 

This urge to always outperform in career is not really needed, we all eventually work towards savings and hence if i earn less but spend even lesser, its more or less the same thing for me.

But i dont want to live in a matchbox, travel 1 hour to meet a friend, eat a roti for 150bucks and be in constant anxiety about climbing the ladder. 

All i want is to focus on health, and sit in a garden in some sunshine with my wife and my dog and enjoy a cup of tea. 

So yes, I AM DONE. Moving to a tier 2 ( more like tier 2.5 town )

Has anyone here with Tech work experience (India) (not from MAANG or any reputed companies, or tier 1 colleges ) taken a career break for personal reasons ? Not talking essential leaves maternity break or something like that, but more like for well being/upskilling/travel etc, whatever it maybe. Could you share your experience ?

What was your experience like getting back to work/interview experience ?

I am considering taking one myself. I know this is normalised on Europe, but I feel in India, many people  (esp. some recruiters) find this weird and most people are even scared about taking a break.

I am a 2022 grad and 1yr into my corporate life and I have stopped liking software engineering. I took software engineering as a career because for the love of it but after experiencing the office politics and constant mundane work I have lost my zeal.

We are always caught between the CTO and the Manager not being on the same page and redoing a lot of our work. For the past 1yr we have been migrating the same stuff to different platforms. No innovative work, no recognition for good work.

Is this normal in the corporate world?

Also I am thinking of taking a break as I want to focus on my health. Is it a good idea to take a break now for 3-5 months and then get back to working again?

I am a PM at an edtech startup. The company is not doing well and my boss is not a good leader. Although company has a runway of 2 years. For the past 3 months I have been doing program management. No product management related work at all. No one appreciates you here. It's mentally challenging to work here. No road map for myself. No appraisal. I'm just going on the job for salary. For the past week, I have been thinking about quitting and taking a break. Then look for a job. I know the market is tough but I have runway for 4-5 months. I am 26M with close to 3 years of work experience and a MBA from a tier 1 college. I make decent salary, however I am not really enjoying my job. I am also depressed from working very hard the past 5 years with graduation, Covid and job Etc. I just want to take a few months off and focus on my mental/physical health. I also want to prepare for Product roles and try out some business/freelancing ideas I have.

My concern is how Career gaps are treated like a stigma in the industry. Like what was the use of working so hard and getting qualifications, if I cannot take a few months in between jobs to focus on myself. Can someone help me get some perspective?
