No I don’t think so. Even if you create your own LLM, the basic tenet of a neural net is that the internal working is a black box. You can train the model all you want to ensure optimal results, but what that result is going to be is not fully predictable.
Also, major companies tend to go with offerings backed by major tech companies rather than run of the mill open source versions. Just see how many companies have a strategic partnership with Microsoft and they use their products, no matter how many good and/or cheap alternatives are available.
I don't think it has anything to do with chatGPT.
It is more around the fact that actually those 4 people are getting the work done that is assigned to all 10.
So ChatGPT or no ChatGPT redundancy will be removed.
chatGPT is prohibited for use by many MNCs (mine too) due to concern for data privacy and legality. I have never used it anyway till now, not because of this prohibition, but just don’t feel like jumping to any new thing in market.

This is happening... My company is also experimenting with Copilot... Vision is to improve developer productivity. May not lau off devs but if the pilot works then future HC and replacement hiring may get hit... Also counter offers would go down
Well the Software industry is definitely going to take a hit as the AI technology advances more in the next few years. That much is clear to everyone. The only uncertainty is what the scale would be and which tier of SDEs would be impacted the most. I feel that's going to become more apparent in the next 1-2 years
