For some reason, everyone in my feed is just trying to build a community 😂

Is this out of loneliness or do people just want to feel like they’re creating something out of other people’s loneliness.

Off late I’ve noticed that a lot of communities have come up in blr, be it for food, sports (badminton/basketball), running, poker, game nights.

I find it a little wholesome to see random people who are in a city, get together over a shared interest and cause of a little loneliness.

I'm creating a small community of folks in Bangalore where like-minded people can meet, talk, help, and become friends over good food! without having to spend much on meetups and apps to socialise. I Do not know why, even i feel lonely many times in this city, 

Lets create a community not restricted to particular area and create a home feeling for outsiders from Bangalore too, making our work, life, networks, pocket, purse, mind friendly.

PS: At least have a have a hand full of friends to navigate Bangalore traffic in weekdays

 Why is Staying at home looked down upon

Holi hai? Diwali hai? So what, nothing to enjoy. Lets spend the day laying on the bed, watching stuff over phone. Feeling less and less disconnected with friends, to the point where I feel I don't even have friends. College friends are based in another city. Didn't even try to make friends at workplace. Stuck alone in my homecity as past 6 years I was based somewhere else completing my grad and preparing for jee. Prior to that focused a lot on studies. So had little to no interaction with people during academics. And now when I have time and money to spend, there is noone with whom I can have fun with.

The older I get, the lesser my excitement becomes for festivals

Moved to a city from a Village. I felt the same. The reason is that cities are culturally and morally bankrupt.  Except mindless consumerism and inflated egos , cities teach you nothing. 
 The longer one lives in cities, people just become animals in fine clothes.

I saw a friend tweet about how Bangalore is full of connected but lonely people jumping in to join every Meetup/WhatsApp group that becomes available. This is my problem with the meetup / conference culture. Meetup culture is all about optionality. You think you'll meet someone new who's cool. Someone who can help you build your network. 

You would rather join a meetup with 100 other strangers than build stronger connections with your friends. In life there are only a few people who really matter. 

People who you can call at 11 PM to rant about your workday. People who you know will be genuinely happy about your promotion. People you share screenshots from work with. It is not probably the 100 strangers in that Whatsapp group that you think of when you are having a health issue and want to share your fears. It also means lowering your ego, which I'm happy to do with my old friends. I'm always happy to ping them when I get the chance, and I'm the one asking them to call me. 

I'm the one who asks them to hang out with me. I used to think, "Why bother?" but then I realised that it doesn't matter who reaches out first. It is not about keeping a count. 

I realised it's for me! If I have a chat with a friend of mine who I have known for over 10 years, my mood improves immediately. Everyone is very busy. Everyone is stressed with their jobs and their personal lives. Some of them are married now. Some have children. But that's where you've got to work to keep connecting with the people who matter to you. Friendship is also about being vulnerable. True friendship is built on vulnerability. 

Being able to share your dreams, your failures and your demons with each other. While the meetup culture is all about bumping into people for 5 minutes to judge their worth and whether they are worth your time, my preference is for long 1-1s. Either on the phone or face to face. I’ve seen so many people around who are relatively alone in blr, they want to do activities spend time on weekends etc; a friend from silicon valley told me about social spark events, it’s a community: you pay some amount you match with like minded folks

My idea: pay me some amount, I guarantee to organise a meetup with your kind of ppl (techies, nerds, dog friends whatever) organise some sort of fun activity where you all can socialise.

We can keep it relatively selective, invite only or something and might not charge anything even in the beginning

Rant. Chappri Interns and mid af SDEs on LinkedIn have destroyed the entire point of the platform. Every Tier 1 graduate working at Microsoft or Walmart posts their own pic in some Manali hillstation and give 400 lines of unsolicited gyaan, which virgin btech 2nd year students cant help but drool at.

I get it bro/sis, you mugged up 800 LC mediums and Microsoft came to your BITS campus and picked you up because you solved a system design question in the interview which scales infinitely for infinite users. No, i dont want to enroll is PrepCracker's System Design Cohort for just Rs 69,999 and replace Hotstar's CTO.

Folks like Arpit Bhayani and Addy Osmani are the only reason I open linkedin to actually get some ground level reality of how to be a better SWE, but all i see is bhaiyya didi telling me why my resume is not getting selected because i didnt pay Rs. 1,999 for their Topmate Resume Review session.

Due to them Twitter is full of 2nd year dimwits who think swe is the only path to liberation and their bhaiyya didi will be their guiding angel. They won't. They'll turn out just like your average 3.5lpa employee at WITCH. The only way to become a good swe is figure shit out yourself and do what you love. Its that simple. Im from a shit tier 3 college. I've cracked FAANG and that too with 42 lc solved. What DSA bro?

I’m a very religious guy
I’ve been doing Kirtan all my life and Now that I am moving to bangalore, I don’t want to stop it. 
I usually sit inside my room and do kirtan alone with harmonium for like 30-40 minutes in a go! I also want to host Night Kirtans like from 11-4 AM like once or twice a month on weekends. 

Should I rent a 1-BHK or look for a room in 2-3 BHK?
I feel people wont be comfortable with this and hence sharing a 2-3 BHK would be difficult

I moved to Bangalore earlier this year for my work. I am having a decent package as a beginner around 15CTC. Initially I was living in PG for few months then moved to 1BHK alone. I thought it would be easy and more comfortable to live alone. But now after some months reality hit me hard. I am not interested in cooking so skip meals sometime(don't buy food from outside because I am fed up eating outside)
Most of the time I feel lonely or not at all good mentally. To tackle these feelings I go for solo trips with different communities but now I am tired with this to as after coming from trip I feel same. I am not into drinking and smoking so it becomes hard to socialize outside.

So, I am writing down here about my feelings. What should I do to avoid these feelings or minimise it? I need your suggestions. 

Now I am targeting to start preparing for a switch and then try to get a remote job so that I can go to my hometown but I can do this only after 8 months as there are bonuses which I have and to keep it I need to be here for 8 more months.

So, suggest me to tackle loneliness and negativity.

I'm 24 yrs old girl. For the past few months, I have been struggling with anxiety and loneliness in Bangalore.

I have tried everything in my knowledge and reach. 

I tried reaching out to people in the office which is tough because mostly are from either Andhra or WB or Karnataka, which makes it tough to fit in as they have their own groups and communicate in their native languages as they connect more.

I tried bumble bff as well. But had no success girls are unresponsive and guys use it similar to date mode.

I tried reaching out to my existing friends who live far away too but it became tough to meet them.

I also tried to get relocated to some other city from my office, but my request got rejected.

I am not a very social person, but I do want to make friends and I'm trying too but it's just not happening for me, organically or otherwise.

Any suggestions or reaching out is appreciated
