The older I get, the lesser my excitement becomes for festivals

Holi hai? Diwali hai? So what, nothing to enjoy. Lets spend the day laying on the bed, watching stuff over phone. Feeling less and less disconnected with friends, to the point where I feel I don't even have friends. College friends are based in another city. Didn't even try to make friends at workplace. Stuck alone in my homecity as past 6 years I was based somewhere else completing my grad and preparing for jee. Prior to that focused a lot on studies. So had little to no interaction with people during academics. And now when I have time and money to spend, there is noone with whom I can have fun with.

Moved to a city from a Village. I felt the same. The reason is that cities are culturally and morally bankrupt. Except mindless consumerism and inflated egos , cities teach you nothing. The longer one lives in cities, people just become animals in fine clothes.

Really depends on the city too. Delhi Kolkata Pune still have decent culture and good people. Mumbai Bangalore not so much.

Lol. Every relation has its own value. Friends are also important in life, partner can’t fill that gap. Partner has its own value in different sense.

When you feel void, marriage is never the solution in long term

I am still excited for the food on festivals. So that's one good thing left (till now)

I don't appreciate being called names. We don't know each other well enough for that kind of language.

Seems as if all the things we heard as children from elders, films etc. about life are coming true.

Life is stressful. 2/10. Wouldn't recommend.

(P.S. Fresh bhai yha logo ko ping krdete. Koi na shi mai to milne aa jaata)

You are stuck in a rut my friend. One thing I will advise you before you get married is: go travel solo! You have the time and the money, and most importantly probably the health. Solo travelling will inspire confidence in you like no other, and will lead you to rediscover yourself (as in what actually you want in life). The answer always lies within us: we just need to tap within ourselves and that doesn't happen when you are trapped in a rut, you just need to keep moviny and discover new things and in the process, yourself!

Surely will follow your advice

I moved to BLR and I miss my home badly

In my hometown (state) Goa we celebrate shigmo before holi, where I am very much involved to the event and miss hearing to sound of dhol tasha and the chants of "Shabai... ", "Hargayo..."

Try ritualizing festivals. Ritualizing makes you feel fuller. Every time you hit a target, your dopamine also gets a hit. A ritual is a target associated with a reward, punya/paap for festivals. Try satsangs or something like art of living where you will find a younger crowd.

I am more of a believer in "work is workship" thing. I do have fate in god but refrain myself from religious gatherings

Work is worship is fine for most part. But diversify your interests. Work can get frustrating and you will need something to fall back on.

Very true. Was my first holi in Bangalore and there was absolutely nothing to do. I think the best we can do is have a circle of friends, meet them as is traditional on festivals. That's the best you can do.

I think constantly changing jobs and cities has this negative impact - you miss on building meaningful long term relationships.

CosmicWaffle

Agree. Ujdi hui zindagi hai, aaj kahin kal kahin aur. You start making good relationships and a new job in a different city comes along. Back to square one :)
