It can be a good role if corporate development is included in strategy. However make sure you don’t get saddled with operations. A lot of companies are using Strategy as a bait to lure people into becoming general management errand boys.

I am part of corporate strategy team in big 4. It depends on what you aspire for. If you are looking for an internal role and better work life balance then you should go for it. If you need more money and love working closely with customers then you should look for another role

Hi i work in Investment banking (back end) profile. However after 4 years of spending in this team, my team has been changed to valuation team. The work in this team would take time for me to adept however to be frank I don’t like the work at all and see it to be not useful outside the team.

Meanwhile I have been offered a corporate strategy associate role at a US based company. Can anyone please tell me as to how is a career in corporate strategy supposed to look, is changing the profile worth it anymore and what sort of work we do in strategy. Really need your inputs.

Joined big 4 recently, after MBA, thought would land-up in strategy roles but placed in functional ERP role,  Considering fresher with 0 tool knowledge in SAP, post mba along with 3.5 yrs of exp in amazon this is a fresh start for me. 
So thinking to move towards ESG as this motivates me a lot to work, how is this space, to move lateral in same org need 1.5 yrs mandarory exp in same firm, 
Want to apply with same package outside but i know would get less benefits with what i have now, but atleast would start working on ESG field and grow from here.

How is this industry in India, would like to know more thoughts

Though, now I crave for some different experience - maybe work for startup’s or a VC firm

I have been offered a job in a boutique investment bank - which works with startup’s in India

My questions:
1. Is it worth switching for a Big4 to a Boutique Investment Bank - will it effect my further employability
2. Does this get me closer to my goal of working for a VC fund someday?

I'm done with this role, works vary from company to company and team to team. It's tough to make people understand the difference between pre-PMF products & mature products, and how the metrics impact vary across the spectrum. 
And this completely changes the equation of your appraisal or your promotion as well. 
I don't see myself working in the same kind of role after 5 years.

The work culture is not very bad to the point I have stopped people from applying.

I have 1 year of workex and have worked on 5 projects during my stint. Most of my projects were led by me with some support from senior consultant.
Work included Impact Consulting project for a state government, DD for a Infra Conglomerate, financial modelling for 2 companies and one strategy and PMO piece.
