Data scientist —> MBA? Grass greener on the other side ?

I currently hold a SDE position with 2 years of experience, and I've come to the realization that coding isn't my ideal career path. Consequently, I'm contemplating pursuing an MBA primarily to transition into an executive role and have better growth opportunities post-MBA. My current salary is 18 lakhs per annum, while I've observed that the average packages at ISB hover around 35 lakhs per annum. And the fees is around 40-45 lacs. Does it seem reasonable to pursue an MBA? I understand that it might take 3-4 years to break even in terms of costs, but in relation to gaining experience and expanding my professional network, is this a step I should genuinely consider?

I (M22) currently have about 8 months (2023) of SWE experience working at a European tech company making roughly 12Lpa. I am planning of going for a MBA in the next 2-3 years but only if I get into a top b-school. I am highly ambitious and hope to climb the MANGA corporate ladder to a C suite/exec level position in the next 15-20 years. Will an MBA make sense for my goals and what sort of roles do tech giants usually hire for from top iims/isb and the likes? Is going for a MBA going to fast track my career or should I just grind the swe -> sdm -> director path with just a B.Tech degree ( Tier-2 private university)

I work as a PM in a B2B SaaS startup and have an overall 4 years of experience all of which is in product management. Now, feeling a stagnant in growth and salary. I was wondering if I should try for an. MBA from IIMs or ISB? My current package is around 36 LPA. I do not want to change my field and I like being a PM. Then does MBA make sense for me in long term?

Hi folks, I’m a Sr. PM at a good startup currently getting 40 LPA. My total experience is 6 years (2 years PM). One of the CXOs suggested to me (over a casual conversation) to consider doing an MBA from ISB or Ivy League colleges if I can afford a career break. I know that post-MBA might not see a huge jump in CTC but from a long-term perspective do you think it would be worth it? Will it open more avenues for growth?

I have heard mixed opinions about ISB/Abroad MBA. People who have done MBA what benefits did you get in MBA college and post that ? Did it help you in getting better job opportunities, better perspective of business, better network?. OTOH I have heard that MBA is an useless degree and not worth the time and money investment. What are some pros and cons. Thanks.

What can be the expected role and starting salary of a person who has done an MBA in Analytics and Data Science in IT sector?

Hey folks, I'm wondering what kinda role I should pursue next after product management. I'm done with this role, works vary from company to company and team to team. It's tough to make people understand the difference between pre-PMF products & mature products, and how the metrics impact vary across the spectrum. And this completely changes the equation of your appraisal or your promotion as well. I don't see myself working in the same kind of role after 5 years. So I'm wondering what kinda role I should look out for? My general interests are more analytics & strategy centric. What do you guys think??

business/finance major, graduated in 2019, been working for 3yrs and 10 months, have doubled my salary since I started my career in 2019. Exploring options- masters in India only as abroad is expensive and doesn't make any sense in today's market. Have seen the fintech space closely boom as a 20y.o fresh out of college, and since then I've worked across sme financing, education financing, b2b credit card payments and now again back to education financing for a traditional nbfc. My roles have varied from strategy and operations, to investor relations/nbfc treasury to product management (current role) I wanted some advice/opinion from the community whether to continue on my career path or switch to masters- take a break of 18 months study from a great school and get back in the industry. Also, if I explore the later one then apart from the isbs and IIMs of the world are there even good 1 year mba programs in india?

Hi all, This question is for people who have been in this field (any form of analytics) for a few years. My background (You can skip to the next section and jump back for reference here): Role: Data Scientist/Analyst Tech stack: Python (ML), SQL, Tableau YOE: 2 years Work: Started here as a fresher. Being in a service based company, we offer analytics solutions. I have worked to create a clients data pipeline(No code tool), to maintaining it, creating dashboards (Primary task) and ML models (Based on any major change in metrics). Salary: On the lower spectrum (Definitely!) Reason for this post: I would call myself good with tools but lacks industry knowledge and the maturity to actually be in analytics. I do decent, but I have to depend on my manager sometimes to understand the business and provide correct solutions. But I guess that is how it is in case of any fresher starting out? Question: Is pursuing a 2 year MBA (Targetting only Tier 1 colleges) a good idea for someone who is already working in analytics for 3 years (by the time I join an MBA program)? Please share your thoughts. Context to the question: I've discussed with someone who did their MBA and works in analytics for a bank now. And according to them, the best way to progress in analytics is to choose a domain and stick to it. And to reset my career, I should do an MBA. This will help me get an understanding of all the domains, improve my soft skills (and time management, etc.) and also give me a good place to start fresh. And they say it will help me in the future as well, as it gives me a very good alumni network. I'm considering this because of my ability to network has not been that great and also to get the domain knowledge they said I'll be getting. But is it really worth it considering I lose 2 years salary, and salary growth and also have to spend a big amount. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies!
