You know those type of people? The ones who believe they know everything, everyone else is beneath them, but in reality are extremely stupid?

The ones who will never admit they are wrong even if you show them why? The ones who will try to demean you at every step of the way cause it gives them pleasure? The ones who you just want to punch as soon as you see them in office?

Yeah, I know you’re thinking about atleast one person while reading this. My question is what has your strategy been in dealing with these people? 

So far in my journey, I haven’t faced any sadistic manager, so that has been great, but the people, my god, some of the tech guys in my teams have been absolutely the most frustrating human beings I’ve encountered.

Ofcourse the first thing to do is to take a step back and reevaluate whether if it is you who has been the actual asshole all along, but after that, if you are still convinced that the other person is nothing but the living embodiment of satan, how do you guys go about dealing with them?

There is this new PM who is making my life living hell. Sets up his own timeline without consulting me how much effort it will take me to execute. The requirements are fuzzy and changes while executing. I am having to delete a ton of my code because they can't keep the requirements frozen.

The problem is that, I am being pulled into meetings all day and I am having to code at night just to keep up with my tasks. My life has become work and I have no time for my self-care.

Haven't gone home in 6 months now. I don't know what to do now.

Save me. Please. I beg of you. What should I do?

Hi guys,

I received a call from Accenture recruitment team for my HR round interview on 24th June and it was scheduled on 28th June but it was not appearing on the Accenture portal and hence no interview was happened.

Same is happening again. I received a call from Accenture team on 3rd July for my HR round interview and it is scheduled on 15 July but the thing is that, it is not appearing on the Accenture portal again.

So, is anyone facing the same issue in Accenture recruitment process. And what can be done to resolve this issue.

I can’t be be the only one, but I am surrounded by multiple people that just do not believe in async communication. They first send a “hi”, wait for me to acknowledge and then only proceed to tell me what they want. Even if it is something ridiculous like “What is the URL to access this portal?”. 

I generally am very quick with messages and from the last few months, this “hi” business is ticking me off. I decided to do some social experiment and delayed my responses to hi. 

If someone just sends me a “hi”, I schedule a “hi” to 3 hours from then. Result? People would rather sit on blockers than tell me what they want. 

I then tried a decreasing backoff. If you texted me a “hi” once, I’d respond in 3 hours. Repeat it a second time, I’d respond in 4 hours. 5 hours the third time, 6 hours the fourth and so on. 

Results? People would still rather I acknowledge their “hi” than tell me what they want.  

Some anecdotes of how “efficient” communication is:

1. A guy wanted access to a portal that I managed. He pinged me a “hi” every morning for 7 straight days before actually asking me what he wants. 
2. Another person wanted to understand git commands that can be used to solve merge conflicts. But not before pinging “hi” for 4 days, then just pulling me into a call with their manager and their manager pinging me a “hi” when I declined the call. 
3. Another person wanted an update on a ticket I closed 2 years ago. All he wanted was a change request number, which he could find using control + F on the Jira portal. He chose to send “hi”s to multiple team mates of mine when I didn’t respond. 

Ultimately, I started telling people to not just ping and disappear and that they can reach out to me. But I guess old habits die hard and I still receive multiple “hi”s.

I recently started a new job. I would like to share some of the experiences I have had with my manager. I am wondering if these are red flags or if I am maybe being paranoid or thinking too much.

It was quite difficult for me to get into this company and this job. The company is quite great and I was quite excited but some of the experiences I have had with my immediate manager have made me a bit apprehensive.
I would like to share them and hear opinions about it.

Here are some things which have happened which I have not liked so far - 

1. I speak to a Senior Engineer one day and next day my manager asks me if anyone asked me to speak to him. 
2. I shared an insight about a new tool which we can use on a deployment pipeline on the overall pod (under my skip manager). My manager immediately called me and started asking my status update and replied 'Discussing 1-1' in the group to prevent anyone getting visibility of the idea. 
3. My manager pings me whenever I go offline and recently he asked me in a passive aggressive way, 'Please monitor your Teams status. It was away for most of today.' I now feel kind of paranoid to never get up as I feel my Teams status is being monitored.

Is my manager too much of a micromanaging red flag ? I started a new job and my manager monitors my Teams online status.

Yes this is straight up micromanagement and insecurity. 
  
 Just stand up to him man. The more of such things you allow him to do, the more courage he will get and more he will fuck your life.  
  
 Just stand your ground for a few times and he'll understand that you are not the guy he can do this to.

Lately I have been getting a lot of DMs from TA from various companies on linkedin. They would start the conversation with something like “We are really impressed with your profile and work you are doing …” 
Then they proceed to ask for contact details and resume and then they just vanish out of thin air. 

It’s not that I have a bad resume because whenever I start to actively look for a job I get interview calls right away from actual HRs who are hiring.

Is this some shady practice that TA people have been following to build their roster/database for different job roles that they frequently hire for.

Coworker who used to lie a lot and spread rumours. Like they'll make up a story in their head, and start telling random things. Once she pinged everyone saying that I got engaged, and I suddenly started receiving texts in company groups 🤷🏾

What are some of the worst habits of your coworker?

Nothing major, but this bothers me a lot!

In last 30 days or so three times I was in the situation where hiring people said I will send your offer letter by eod, which obviously didn’t happen. In fact the position is kept on hold or priorities are changed.
This is pretty frustrating as well as confusing. I’m not able to understand how these people decide things. 

Every time I was pushed to go through whole hiring process with multiple rounds of interviews as quickly as possible (within 10-15 days approx) and then suddenly nothing.

I’m not sure why these peoples are wasting theirs as well as others time. This just feels stupid.

How should I tackle this situation going forward?

I normally use mouse ziggler and take sweet nap in afternoon whenever WFH. 😌

So one of my junior teammate always asks for help for few things. Actually he and some other folks don't have access to few portals and tools on Azure and Databases due to security policy.
While all the other folks who need access to same tools, do consiser the fact that I might be busy with my own work and ask for time when to connect. But this coworker starts a huddle out of nowhere, expects me to login at 11:00 PM at night, just messqges hello/hi without any context and doesn't stop messaging until I reply. He also talks in a manner like he's doing me a favor.
I know that me having access to tools means I should always unblock others, given it's not there fault they don't have access to it. My manager even tried to get them access but the security team to paranoid.

How to deal with this. Am I being rude here?
