We are creating products for users; it’s important to understand their pain points and requirements. Good products often have a good user research team.  
  
 If possible convince your leadership to create a UXR team. It needs to be done properly and definitely not for the sake of it. An experienced user researcher can get the right insights from users or validate a hypothesis. All you need to do is read the reports and listen to a few meeting recordings.

My company acts like developers are the sole reason the app ui exists. I’m not trying to diss them, it’s a team effort, everyone is involved. 

But when features go live it feels like nobody gives a shit. If it does well, devs get commended. Design is never given any recognition. It feels like no matter how much we do, we’re never contributing enough to be considered impactful even if numbers are going up. Is this the case everywhere?

What are your views on the feedback. Should the interviewer provide it or not. 

I feel, especially for the take home assignments, proper feedback should be provided to the interviewee.

Hey folks

So im looking out for a switch. I have overall 2.5yrs of experience with 1.3 yrs in product.

Im looking for APM roles preferably in Delhi/Gurgaon location, but open to pune, bangalore as well.

Im facing a lot of micromanagement at my current firm from the founder(since he heads product & tech) & i dont have ownership in my role. Even the director of PM shares the same frustration.

I feel like after a year of working here i wont have much to show in my cv in core product work. 

Just to give an example: i started an initiative to call customers for general feedback(satisfaction, whether they actually want what we are doing) & i was told to shut it down & work on things which doesnt have any customer validation.

How do you learn Product Management?

Just wondering if the things we write in bi-annual or annual review against objectives or in general - is read by anyone? I have been told in the past that no one bothers reading it as long as manager is clear about your work. Maybe if you’re up for promotion then it’s possible that the things u wrote are read. Although peer feedback + manager feedback (verbal) takes more precedence. 

So is this writing down just part of evidence collection?

Does anyone even read what we write in performance review?

I'd like to rant about the Quality Team.
The ones who dissect into your work and try to nitpick anything that could be flagged as a 'wrong process', 'wrong procedure', inaccurate solution', 'misjudging the statement', 'rude tone', etc.

Do you guys get extra incentives on catching these mistakes? No, I don't think so. You get a bunch of things to do quality checks on but actually when there's barely anything wrong, you will go till the deep end to find an error.

Why do you have a Quality meet for any feedback from the alleged wrongdoers end when you guys are not ready for any feedback? All I hear you say, "as discussed earlier", "prior to this call", "I totally understand what you're saying", etc.
Remember kids, when people ask you for a feedback session over a meet link, it's never for you to voice out or prove yourself correct. Ultimately it's these guys who win and thanks to them, we lose out on our monthly metrics.

Sometimes I feel that the work I am doing in the office is worthless. It is providing no value to the client nor does it help me. I am able to answer the technical questions of the client which help in their business decisions and I think that's what keeps me employed. But I still feel I am wasting my time and I really don't know what I should do. Does anyone else face a similar issue or is it only with me? Also have someone come out of this and would like to share their experiences.

Sometimes I feel that the work I am doing is worthless.

I have a couple recurring (weekly+biweekly) meetings on my calendar. Today I got a peek at a mid-leader's calendar at my company, this bloke had at least 5-7 recurring meetings every week, he/she forgot his/her screen was still visible to all.

My stance is: sometimes I look forward to catching up other times it's just like ticking a checkbox of corporate things to do.

I think hope, aka hopium, works well as a product and a business in a country like India. Example are Naukri.com, shaadi.com, jeevansaathi, dating apps etc etc. 

The current wave of hope in this country is validation that whatever I am doing (be it in my job, startup, business, partner, or health) is correct, and some players have worked on this insight and made a decent business out of it.

Working on the same insight, I have built an astro bot to do customer research and gather feedback. It would be very helpful if the community could share feedback and be ruthless about it.

I have had a manager who has been bullish about the timelines of a 12 month long project. And has never contributed in any capacity. When I reach out to her for help, the high level responses are: “lets go deeper”, “lets be user first and figure out”. Is this appropriate?
