Do you believe in user feedback?

The one who - Keeps nagging with status updates - Pushes you to achieve a goal which is merely quantitative & not qualitative - Appreciates employees that show ‘first-benchers’ trait - Junks your ideas to satisfy his own ego - Pretends busy all the time Comment your experience dealing with such Managers.

My company acts like developers are the sole reason the app ui exists. I’m not trying to diss them, it’s a team effort, everyone is involved. But when features go live it feels like nobody gives a shit. If it does well, devs get commended. Design is never given any recognition. It feels like no matter how much we do, we’re never contributing enough to be considered impactful even if numbers are going up. Is this the case everywhere?

We receive and give feedback to our team members, managers, leadership, clients, peers, etc. Which feedback has been the most impactful for you that you received? and impactful for the other person/initiative that you gave?

Post most of the interviews in software engineering there is no feedback or its said they will communicate if they get some details. What are your views on the feedback. Should the interviewer provide it or not. I feel, especially for the take home assignments, proper feedback should be provided to the interviewee. It should be mandatory not optional. ( Strong words but whatever )

I'll go first. It is mostly operational and never strategic. Updates, status, retention etc. What about you?

Am i wrong if i check with Support or Customer success team if there are any defects due to which i see a decline in user activity in my SAAS tool since last 3 months. I was asked this question in an interview that what would be your first step if you need to figure out why there is a decline in user activity since last 3 months.

Hey folks So im looking out for a switch. I have overall 2.5yrs of experience with 1.3 yrs in product. Im looking for APM roles preferably in Delhi/Gurgaon location, but open to pune, bangalore as well. Im facing a lot of micromanagement at my current firm from the founder(since he heads product & tech) & i dont have ownership in my role. Even the director of PM shares the same frustration. I feel like after a year of working here i wont have much to show in my cv in core product work. Just to give an example: i started an initiative to call customers for general feedback(satisfaction, whether they actually want what we are doing) & i was told to shut it down & work on things which doesnt have any customer validation. If there are any opportunities available, kindly reach out. Any help would be appreciated. TIA🙂

Preferably interested in knowing the skills with which you up your game outside the work.

Just wondering if the things we write in bi-annual or annual review against objectives or in general - is read by anyone? I have been told in the past that no one bothers reading it as long as manager is clear about your work. Maybe if you’re up for promotion then it’s possible that the things u wrote are read. Although peer feedback + manager feedback (verbal) takes more precedence. So is this writing down just part of evidence collection?
