Does anyone commute to Bangalore?

Hello, My company has started Hybrid working model, I’m currently stay with my mom in my home town (7 to 8 hours from Bangalore by road). Couple of my team mates are going to office, most of the colleagues are not. Do you think I should move to BLR, considering like 2 weeks in Bangalore and 2 weeks in hometown. Found a place in BLR which is like 18k per month.

I am a middle class guy working as a senior engineer in one of the product companies. I belong from the north-east, and I am the only child in my family. Since covid, I was working in a wfh setup. Recently, my company has ended work from home for everyone, and I am supposed to move to Bangalore very soon or quit. I am an active user on all social media groups on Reddit, Fb, etc. For the past couple of months after seeing so much of negative news about Bangalore, Especially the high population, skyrocketing rents, the auto unions, corruption, cut-throat competition, discriminative news, traffic issues, etc. It makes me nervous to be honest. My wfh here was pretty chill, and I had a very limited social circle here, but was satisfied since I could spend most time with my mom and dad. Im very afraid now about what should I do next, shall I quit the job and search for wfh, or shall I make my move. I don’t have any acquaintances there, no friends, no idea about what I’ll be doing next, how to start house hunting, or job hunting. At this point I am miserable and overwhelmed to think about all of this. Anyone who has gone through all of these, If you can share your 2cents, experiences or thoughts, about how you dealt this phase. It will be really helpful for me at this point in my journey. Hi I moved to Dubai from Bangalore 3.5 years back. I have total 5.5 years of experience as Software Engineer. Is it worth coming back to Bangalore now? If yes, why and how much salary I can expect based upon my experience? If no why? At that time I was earning 24lpa. I have always worked in startups and would prefer to work in same.

I am doing work from home from last 2 year and it's pretty good but my entire friend circle has moved to their office location delhi, blr aur Bombay and my college friends also got split into different cities Sure, we catch up during occasional visits or hometown hangouts and trips, but most days, it's just me, myself, and my laptop. I've tried moving to Bangalore and stayed couple of months, but traffic take lot of time to just meet friends and people are mostly into over work and then just drinking and smoking and don't want to talk about flats, transport and other problem so whoever doing work from home from their hometown, how do you deal with this my hometown is tier 3 city and routine is kind of wake up, coding, gym, movies or anime or leetcode and sleep

29M here. I live in 4km radius of my workplace and have previously enjoyed living in 2km & 180m radius of my workplace in HSR. I’ve been in Bangalore(HSR) for 6+ years and have never needed to own a vehicle(thanks to Ola/Uber/Rapido, BMTC, Bounce, Vogo, Yulu, Drivezy, and a couple of friends). I often walk back from office as time consumed by bus+wait time = walking back home+5mins. Besides busses are a bit unreliable & often too crowded. I used to work in a startup so I had very little free time to venture out & I’ve been very frugal with money even though I have decent income. I’m fully I’ve always lived way under my means like a tech-bro. 🥲 I’m now willing to purchase one for office commute & to enjoy some solo trips as I might get married by next year. I sort of feel not owning a vehicle(preferably car) could be a potential red flag for the girl(&her judgemental parents; AM sucks, lol) but I’m planning to hold off a car as my commute time(&⛽️₹) will increase and buy a working scooty/bike which can sort of ferry me quickly and cheaply to local meet-ups, relatives’ homes for free food/celebrations. I feel I might miss out on crucial contacts, awesome learnings & above all time(the most expensive resource) if I don’t own a reliable 2wheeler. Two wheeler expectations: - comfortable city driving; expecting to not ride more than 20km/day(Scooty wins here hands down as I have a decent place to throw in the laptop bag and keep my spine straight) - okay road trips for maybe once every two months(sports bikes rule here, no gf sadly🥲) - low servicing overheads(rules out 2nd hand vehicles, as 2nd hand vehicles as they are expected breakdown more frequently & recurring servicing cost) (EVs win here, until🔋😒) - as low cost of ownership+purchase as possible (basic bikes like Pulsar/Platina could be a good choice, Ather 450 gets booted out as it’s ₹1.6L) - likely not an EV(coz once a while I’d like to hit the highways & I hate surprises so no Ola) Please guide me peeps🙏

I'm a 2023 grad but I've worked in VC/HFT/GSoC/startups I'm so fed up with the WFO culture. What do you even get by getting employees in office? What's the point? I'm an engineer, I can write code from anywhere on the planet with internet and laptop. Been looking for a role since August, while having a solid dev ex yet all these fools are WFO that reduces half the number of companies I want to work for. Any suggestions or am I being a fool?

Am I the only one who likes working from office (Bengaluru)? I go to office every day, and it helps me to be more productive. - There will be no distractions - Team mates will be around, and if there is any queries, I can straight away ask them rather than typing a message or setting up a call - Occasional chit chats - Having lunch together - being a part of all the conversations happening - Managers works from office - a good rapport with him as well - Free food - Free Transport (can mates - another plus point) - Good work set-up - Meet new people almost every day - Build/deepen real connections every day - Interact with folks starting from entey level to senior directors or VPs regularly (L1 - L9 is the range mentioned here) FYI: I moved to Bengaluru for work, although I've the option to work completely remote. One of my team member even mentioned that he has not yet been able to connect with the team member who has joined before me, like how he could connect with me. I understand that once people have family, it will be difficult to manage everything. One of my team mate actually mentioned that, he used to do/manage everything properly before Covid, but it's kind of not easy/lazy since Covid. I also realise that not everyone has the above perks, but still. Commute can be an issue. I travel 50+ KMs every day to and fro. I start by 7 am in the morning to morning traffic, and take around 75 minutes in the evening (I can survive the traffic without having to use my mobile 😂) I do miss my family frequently, but I do have the flexibility to go home and stay a few days when I want. Staying alone in a service apartment is the only disadvantage as of now.

Is it a good time for early in career(1.5 YoE) to join Google India. I am curious about their current culture like WFH policies, management outlook, direction of company, growth opportunity etc in Bangalore offices only. What can you tell as an insider to someone on the outside looking at Google for possible next switch. Also, are there opportunities to shift from Bangalore to other location outside India?

I am joining a new company which is remote first. Does it makes sense to be in banglore? Given that if i move to my home town, I will save 95% of my income. I am confused because I also like banglore and dont like the idea of living with my parents. But if i stay at home for 2 3 years, I would be able to buy a property in banglore when i move back in future.
