Empathetic PMs are manipulative con-artists.

Saw a non-technical PM crib on Grapevine about this. The thing is I’m not the nicest guy in the Universe because I’m the smartest. And being nice is something stupid people do to hedge their bets. You know, smart people get a chance to climb on top and take reality for a ride, but it'll never stop trying to throw you, and eventually it will. There's no other way off. And you take the chance. No respect for people who play a game of thrones. Masking behind powerful men, and hide in their shadow to get their bidding done. When a company has people problems bigger than the problem the company is trying to solve, you know what to do then...

  • This is so bullshit lol. Meet real nice people, you will understand how it feels being with them.

Being nice and kindness is considered weakness esp in the corporate world.

I don’t think this take is true. Managing people is a separate skill set.

You maybe the best coder in the world. But if you can’t manage a team of 100 plus people then you’ll always remain good in single player games.

In long run what you do need is some managerial skills. And that comes with lot of trial and error and spending lots of time with people around you.

Well put. Having enough knowledge to be able to understand the team's challenges and make decisions accordingly is what matters. Being an expert coder is a valuable skill too... just not necessarily for management. In fact, I'd say putting an excellent coder in management is a waste of their talent!

It’s not the problem with the take, but your misinterpretation.

The tweet doesnt say every skilled coder should be a manager, but that a technical manager (or looking to be a tech manager) should have excellent technical skills too. That is a correct take.

The fucking delusion 😂

Damn, the stupidity in this post is unbelievable. What lies people tell themselves to justify their incompetency.

Oh my god.. I need to take a shower after reading that line. That probably is the first time I've seen someone unironically be this delusional in life. Good God!

there is no one size fits all, this might be relevant some places and irrelevant elsewhere at places where strong leadership and technical acumen and conflict resolution is key

Talk about justifying shitty behaviour and incompetence in the garb of “I am smart but not nice”. How do we know if you are even smart brother?

What's the best part of being a PM for you?

Hey guys, I’m between jobs right now, which is a fancy way of saying I’m hunting for one. After sending out over 60 applications and cracking a few interviews, I’ve got three final rounds left. I’ve loved being a Product Manager (PM) for...

The CEO called me a terrible PM 🤡

Here is an incident that happened to me at my old startup. This literally gave me a wake-up call that shattered my "PM is mini-CEO" idea that all my mentors had told me about.

During a heated product roadmap + prio meeting, the actua...

[OPINION] MBAs are a dying breed who deserve it.

mba’s are the middlemen of the mind, bullshit architects of ppt decks that dump the actual work onto someone else. their entire “skillset” is built on synthesizing what other people create and presenting it like they did something.

Maybe the fault lies in the person. MBA still teaches about strategy, brand management and core finance. If you don't...

MBA is a deadweight education. Its only for brand image. It teaches no specialized skill that is usefull to a company.
