I am marketing manager at a mid-sized SaaS company. I join work everyday at about 11, 11:30 and stay in front of my computer at least until 7 pm. But the thing is I barely have any work. Whatever little work I get I manage to finish them in a few hours and that's it. All day long I either scour for work or spend time on LinkedIn applying at new opportunities. There are days when I barely do anything at all.
Not that I don't try finding work. I have come up with a lot of new projects but they all hit a snag for one or other reason. After a point I just stopped following up. Every bright marketer that ever joined during my tenure either left or just adapted to this org while doing consultancy on the side. At the end of the day I feel frustrated and terrible for not contributing or doing anything meaningful. If I was tad more courageous I would have left this crap and start something on my own. But I not. I need this money and addicted to this stability.
