I'm a 2023 grad but I've worked in VC/HFT/GSoC/startups

I'm so fed up with the WFO culture. What do you even get by getting employees in office?

What's the point? I'm an engineer, I can write code from anywhere on the planet with internet and laptop.

Been looking for a role since August, while having a solid dev ex yet all these fools are WFO that reduces half the number of companies I want to work for.

Any suggestions or am I being a fool?

Hey Fellow Grapeviners ,  I have created an anonymous Remote work survey  to distinguish   companies who offer Permanent Remote (Permanent WFH ) , Hybrid - Attendance ,  Compulsory office attendance  companies  and segregate them .
 
Often there are some circumstances ,  which favour Permanent WFH  ,  like ailing  parents  or young kid to look after ,
Also, the commute these days in most metros  is painful and often tiring . 
 Also, companies are leveraging war driven economic  troubles to push and leverage for office attendance .  
  There is still a section of employees who prefer WFH over WFO or Hybrid . 
These survey should help such people .

Google form captures the information  while it gets stored in a Google sheet for the same in flat way .
Statistics sheet captures the data count  of WFH vs WFO Vs Hybrid .
Next 3 sheets segregate the date of WFH , WFO and Hybrid .
Last sheet is the raw data in flat format . 

No need to log in to your Gmail account ,  You can also fill the survey form and  access the Google sheet incognito.  No name needed . 

This survey has some approximate 70  records  from  the time when it was posted on Reddit post on r/developersIndia  ,
Please fill the survey form  whenever possible .

Let's help each other find our dream job with WFH or hybrid benefits.

Now why everyone is talking about benefits of working from office?
I saw post from Sunil Shetty on linkedin.

My take is, when pandemic hit companies asked employees to WFH to keep wheel rolling.
Now we know WFH can give greater control over personal and professional life(at least for me) we don’t want to go back to office.

In my opinion corporate want us to work from office cause,

- they can control our time, 9hrs in ofc, you are getting paid for time not skills.
- they want to show who is the boss here.
- Learning is key reason for WFO, bullshit, we have a lot of learning portals and traffic time can be used to learn but it is never a intention.

Being thankful in every little things brings contentment and self satisfaction! Yes indeed try it out. I have personally experienced it hence sharing the same. 

Here in GV I mostly see posts where people grumble about their salary being insufficient and rto is annoying etc, I really wonder how it was before covid ?! Did we have the WFH in TCS no right. It was clear that WFO was the deal and things were gng normal then. Suddenly the Covid changed the game yet haven't we see people working in banks, hospitals etc work from office only what if they say they don't like working from office. Pause to think!

It makes sense if you are not satisfied with your salary and justifying job role, eventually one can indeed look for elevation. Put your efforts and get that desired job and move on. That's being productive and optimistically. Grumbling is not the solution any day. I am OK if anyone reads this post and criticizes cus again that's not going to affect me. 

We must learnt to appreciate the little things and be Thankful to God for everything. Without this we cannot see any good in anything we receive in life. There will always be a void and that will never get fulfilled without the heart of contentment.

I have been on a permanent wfh role since covid. Yes, been 2+ years since I stepped into an office. I stay alone and have little expenses but also 0 social life. Friends are all spread out. Not on any dating app because its exhausting. Can someone just talk about any impacts on their personal life from work life? Does anyone here feel a void too? I’d love to connect.

I have been working remotely and honestly, I don't want to go to office ever (at least that's what I feel right now) 
  
 I don't want to become besties with my coworkers, and I stay with family so I'm very happy spending all my time with my favourite people in the world! I also have the option of traveling and have decided to take an out of Delhi trip every 2 months at least 
  
 I might be biased, because my parents and immediate family are professionals as well and have home offices, so all my life, I've had the kind of atmosphere where offices don't play a huge role, so I'm happy! 
  
 But yes, I suppose I do get the socialising aspect, it becomes harder to make friends as one grows older, especially when all your school/college friends have office jobs 🙃🙃

Stipend - 20k
Travel time - 2 hours up and down 
Location - Banglore 

I rqstd founder for hybrid work as I don't see my real-time need in the office, Founder is quite rigid on the office point and wants me to be present in office no matter what and also on some other things. 

I kind of see it as a red flag, what's would you suggest can this turn to a full time offering or just a internship and then ask me to leave the org.
