True. My friend who is getting paid 48LPA in FAANG just changes the URL in properties file . Hardly works 30 mins per day

should i still try for faang or go with this for a year, i really liked the people and team here and they are fully commited to making this startup a success and even their last company got accquired.

what is this weird culture of FANG these days? got interviewed for a position with on of the companies, here’s my rant.


- HRs don’t have the decency to revert back promptly for feedback for even if it’s positive. 

- Interviewer not opening up the webcam but asking you to even share your screen, webcam and even your property papers if they can.

- Lowballing offers, Got an offer which is not even close to the current TC, and yes we had the current compensation discussion beforehand.

- Quoting some numbers before the interviews and giving a 20-30% lesser offer after the interviews. This is when the candidate received strong hire. 


I don’t know where as a job market we are heading towards, but FANG culture has been on a downwards path. Got interviewed with them around 4 years back and i can see things are not the same now.

I have seen some companies post about them looking to hire a lot of people and ask people to reach out to them over DM (if their DM is even open in the first place lol), but when I do, I never hear anything back. I have 4 yoe and have applied to so many of these companies, reached out to people working there, but no one has ever replied back. Why do they even say that their DMs are open in the first place? I don't know how to even get my resume in front of an actual person working there, and my resume is not even that bad. Like how do people get interviews in these companies in the first place? I have applied so many times but never actually got contacted by any HR. Any tips will be much appreciated.

Getting interviews at FAANG india is not hard at all. Especially Amazon would literally interview anyone who knows basic coding and is alive. Have blocked multiple of their recruiters.

I am good at DSA and in HLD. I feel pretty confident that I will be able to crack the interview once I get a chance.

It is generally considered as when you join FAANG you are a software developer, with tags such as SDE I or II or III. But I've heard very little about analysts/data engineers/data scientists in these companies. I am a B.Tech final year student and I'll be joining a Data Analysis startup firm in June this year. Had a call with my cousin this weekend. Life has been very hectic lately so, I have been laying low for a while now. Anyway, my cousin reached out and he brought up something very interesting. He mentioned how the quality of new engineering grads at FAANG has been trending downwards over the last three or so years.

Technical competency aside, there is a weird behavioural shift wherein freshers have adopted job hopping every 2-3 years. He told me that there are zero engineers who stayed longer than 3 years at his org. 

I mean optimizing for pay is fine. The thing to really balance for is impact in the long run because at one point you would find it hard to scale beyond a Lead/EM role at an org. 

But the real thing is that the "FAANG" hype has started to die down amongst the 99th percentile of talent. I wonder how long will it take to have a trickle down effect to 80th percentile and so on.

Just to validate, I asked a friend for his opinion and he opined that "Bhai, tum FAANG mei naaukar ho ya kisi startup mei, ho toh naukar hi." Translation: "You can work at FAANG, or at a startup but you are still a servant(employee)"

Was there any faang hype among 99th percentile folks in the first place?? 
 I graduated from a tier-1 college, majority of my friends are from Similar colleges and if I look in my friend circle, most of the folks are working at high growth startups or something of their own.  
 Sorry to say but faang was never aspirational to begin with.  
 The target audience of youtuber bhaiya/didis were tier-2/3 folks and maybe this kind of hype exists among them.
