I am a software developer with 3 years of experience. My first company(1.6 years) had a toxic culture and had to leave that place with not so good terms with the HR. Although I have good relations with my colleagues there.It was a very small company with 70 employees. Unpaid work, extra hours,late salary and abusive managers are just a few of the problems with that place.

Since then I have switched to a better place and later this year have found a 100% hike in another company for a software developer role. But the background verification for my last to last organisation failed for both of these companies. I was still able to retain both of them since I honestly communicated the reasons for leaving this job.

Basically The HR at this place is giving bad reviews on my character and denying your employment.

Now I have performed & also had a talk with my manager about this problem with my first company. I don't think it will be a problem with this current role as well.
But I am worried about my future switches that this issue will arise again & again. Trying to resolve this with this previous company will not work for sure.

How should I approach this issue?
Any suggestions would be of great help.

I resigned from my previous job few months ago and now I have received an offer from a different company.
I have been able to clear all the rounds and now the final round - background verification check is pending.

I have been asked to give the references of my previous managers whom I was reporting to ( need to give 2 names).

Now the issue is that I didn't leave on good terms in my previous company. I asked for an internal switch and they instead created a toxic environment and forced me indirectly to resign - which also led to a few situations where we had an argument. In conclusion, I didn't leave on good terms.
Now how do I provide my reporting managers reference.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

In my resume , I have skipped this experience and mentioned other dates correctly. I didn't think it would be relevant!

2. Experience C - from Oct 2020 - ..

1. Would this be a problem for background verification?
2. Should I inform the HR about this ?

Some context.
Worked at an early stage startup around 1.5 years ago. This startup works in the Computer Vision space and does a lot of experiments(no direction at all, will take some project from some fintech company one day, some project from healthcare, and then some project from some random company, basically these go nowhere), I worked with one of the projects that involved document processing and it got some revenue.

At my last day, I was made to sign some agreement which included non compete.

1.5 hears later, today, I’ve joined a startup that works in FinTech domain and has been doing pretty good, and they sent a BGV check to my previous employer, and those guys are saying they won’t do BGV and that I’m violating the non compete agreement. They think entire world is their competitor, honestly, they’re nothing and no one even gives a fuck about their existence.

What can I do here?

My employment was terminated last month from the organization’s side but they have put things like “his performance was average” & “he left the organization in his own accord” in the relieving cum experience letter. 

I am not much worried about the performance part because I have good experience letters from my past organizations and believe would be the same in case of reference checks.  Should I be worried about these?

Any suggestions on how to move forward with future applications would be helpful.

Hey Hey People. I've been in PM-ship for 4 years, and I have been jumping (unfortunately) from one sinking ship to another. Since Startups started going belly up, I've been switching but not able to keep up with the absolute abuse of 14-16 hour workdays including weekends.

I am looking for some guidance or advice on how to switch to a "safer" company in which I can stay and build my career for the next 3-4 years. I've almost run through the gauntlet of 3 companies in the last two years and feel absolutely burnt to a crisp.  Whether it be policies, workplace politics ( main reason for quitting the last 2 orgs) or culture, I am simply not able to go through the wringer. 

I want to switch to a place where I can do Product + Analytics but have a safer moat of a learning curve. Most startups lack any documentation or training and it's very disastrous when shit hits the fans because no one has any idea or documentation on what works. Pile up abusive micromanagement and valour thievery into the equation as well. 

I'm simply burnt out to death and I feel this shit hitting me in my skull every living second. I want to be in a place where I am able to perform and learn more (not breakneck) stable pace.

How to switch from Startup Hells to MNCs.

Will that leave a black mark on my profile for the rest of my career and will have to suffer due to that or is it completely fine?

I have 6 years of experience as a dev. Two of the previous companies(startups) I've worked at have gone under and no longer exist. How would the background verification companies work through in such a case. As it stands, 4 years of my experience have been in these companies. Will they not count anymore?

I have 1.7 years of experience.
In the 1st company I worked  for 13 months and then I switched.
My 2nd company is the best company till now I have ever worked but unfortunately got laid off within 6 months.
Now I have recently joined a new organisation and it's been a month now but due to the toxic work culture and bad team I don't want to stay here.
The problem is that it's been only 1.7 years and now I am looking for the 4th organisation to switch.
Is that fine? And especially will it be easy for me to justify the new organisation for the frequent switch.

Had my appraisal meeting with the manager today and the feedback I received don't put me in a good light. The manager wants me to be more proactive and ask for more work. In the last 2 years more than half of my team has quit for whatever reasons and even with the increased workload that I completed on time, I have received a rating of "partially achieved". What's even weirder is that the rating was given before the appraisal meeting even started. The manager had made up their mind. 

I see the market and feel grateful for a relatively safe job and a relatively fine package but this event makes me feel under-appreciated at work. My team lead still treat me like a fresher even though I have 2+ yoe and assigns high priority tickets to other team members. Given the fewer complex tasks in my bucket, the manager feels I'm not up to the task which is far from truth. 

I want to make a switch and move on to better opportunities before long but I am worried whether this merit report will sour my chances when the HR asks for them during interviews / onboarding.

Have you had similar experiences? What did you do? 

Also, am I wrong in being worried about the appraisal report affecting my chances at new companies?

3 years post-MBA exp. Currently at INR 35+ LPA. Offer in impact consulting at INR 23 LPA. Should I take it? Joining in Jan'24. Reason for switch - can't tolerate my toxic manager anymore. Have already put down my papers. 
Line of thought:
1. Take it - Something is better than nothing. At least paisa aate rahega.
2. Wait - Once I go at a lower package, difficult to demand a hike on my current one.
3. Take it, don't mention it - Companies will negotiate hard to lowball me if they know I am not working (gets worse if the LWD of my current company and the time am applying have a huge gap).

Money matters to me. But have been introspecting a lot. Will appreciate realistic input from the community.

I got laid off from an organisation and by god's grace I had a offer, which was not that good 10% decrement in salary, but me being a scared person joined the company.

Now 1 month after I realised I can do much better and market seems to open up.

What should I tell the HR in 2 scenarios.

1. I had already started Interviewing and haven't mentioned that I was layed off. What should I tell if I get selected? 

2. If a opportunity comes to start Interviewing for seperate company, should I mention about ty current company or no?

PS. The work in current organisation is not that good and it's a contractual role.

Imagine you are the Hiring manager looking for a Tech Lead who is having 8-10 years of experience. 
  
 He/She has already switched 6-7 companies in the period of 9 years. Will you consider that person working for you? 
  
 I personally won’t.

So today I received an offer from a startup that is giving me a pretty good 50% jump on my current base. It's not a well-known startup but during my interview i noticed certain red flags, the way they were interviewing, very arrogant and got a lot of micro-managing vibes from them, expect designs to delivered very quickly.

While the money is very good, I'm skeptical if I should accept it or not? What would you guys do in such a situation? I am working currently

I officially left my previous organization in October 2023, but I actually worked until December 2023. 
I was going through a financial emergency and requested them to pay November and December month salaries in October itself, to which they complied, and did my entire full n final clearance in October itself.

Unfortunately, the finance team made errors: my end of service date in the PF account is listed as October, and there were no tax deductions nor PF paid for November and December, also causing issues with my pay slips. My experience letter correctly states my last working month as December. I've tried to rectify the situation by asking my previous organization to update my end of service date, but due to the missing PF deductions, it will not be possible.

Now i am joining a new org and i am afraid i will fail the background check cz of all this and they are demanding for last 3 months payslips while i have payslip only for october which includes Salary till December under “other prerequisite” 

Please advice on a way out.
