Feeling scared after reading Interview experience on Leetcode

I was recently scrolling through linkedin as a regular day to find my daily dose of depression And Suddenly I saw a profile of x Person who started his engineering in July 2023 has 500+ LC Problems solved a CI/CD pipeline set up project and What not I was so shocked to see at what level the competition has raised a first year guy who has just entered the stream has started all this I am a graduate and barely knew all this back then This X person has 4 starts in CodeChef and Some ratings in CF If this person and I are competing for the same job I felt I will be trashed to bins And I see the Leetcode guys 500 Solved Rating this that just in 1st and 2nd year of college I was terrified and impressed at the same time Are these next generation too impulsive to over skill them for a job ? What are your thoughts?

Hi guys, I am working at an MNC as a front end developer. I am going to complete 4 years soon here which is no less than a nightmare. I should have switched so long ago but I am still stuck here. And it's wfh, so I have been feeling so depressed lately having no professional life. I gave some interviews last year but couldn't clear and have been feeling demotivated since then. Please help!!

I'm a 4th year student from a pvt college. Did 3 internships, one in a decacorn, one in a unicorn. Have an offer from Amazon for SDE 1 when i graduate, and one from the company I'm working at right now. Reached so far only with development skills, projects, hackathon wins and OSS contributions. My leetcoding and competitive coding skills are downright garbage. I have absolutely no motivation to become a leetcode monkey and get more offers, but given the current market scenario, seems hard to get good offers without mugging up 800 leetcode questions. Folks in software engineering who made it with leetcode, how did you do it, and what did you do to kill that builder urge and mug up leetcode. I can't do this anymore.

I’m great at leetcode and sys design discussions. But have probably shipped very few lines of code at this point in my career. Yep. Seriously. I have coasted a lot by just doing corporate politics, architecture discussions, and design docs etc this has led to me feeling impostor syndrome but also sad and empty inside. I contemplate leaving SWE path. But I want to be a better developer not just leetcoder Yoe 7

I recently got placed in a good product based company and was assigned in Data Engineering team 1-2 weeks ago as an intern. I always wanted to be a Software Development Engineer and I really like to develop applications, websites etc and I also really enjoy it. I even purchased an expensive system design book to learn and implement how they build scalable apps etc because I find it very interesting. I never persued the data domain because I don't like stats and all the maths. Avoided AI/ML in college. Sure, I can work and learn about it in my free time, but I don't prefer it as a job right now. I couldn't develop my interest in data engineering after researching about it online for hours. Yes, the stack is cool and different, they build pipelines and all but it looks boring to me. I also read few comments saying that freshers are rarely hired for this role and one should work as an sde for few years before switching to this domain, and also they are paid ≤ SDEs depending on the company. What should I do now? Please guide me seniors🙏 Am I stuck in this forever or can I switch to SDE anytime I want? I am open to trying this role but then I am also scared that it'd may be too late or too hard to switch to SDE by then..? P.s. This is my first job, never worked in a company before so I don't know how things work.

I am a backend engineer with a 9 year exp. In my fourth company now. Started with 5 lpa, now at 31 Lpa. Mostly have worked in normal companies only. I am from one of the NITs. I am not good at DSA. Everytime I have to switch a job, my resume gets shortlisted and I get call via naukri. The things is in these last 4 job searches I have been rejected 100 times. I have been rejected by almost all the companies, Service now 5-6 times, oracle 5-6 times, Walmart 2 times, goldman 3 times, jpmorgan 2 times, Amazon 4-5 times, arcesium 3-4 times, msft 2 times. Apart from these, I have been rejected by adp, celigo, phenom, barclays, flipkart etc. Every time, I want to change a job, I'll get rejected by all the big companies and then will get selected at some normal company with a hike and will join them. I am at my fourth company now, and again I am searching for a job. Have already been rejected by GS, service now, phenom, epam, ice, demandbase in last 2 months. Every time it is the same DSA. I try studying, will do decent amount of leetcode prior to interviews. Last two months I am doing leetcode from strivers sheet. But same question I'll do here, and in interview will fail. Example I have done sorted array rotation, shares sell and buy, rain water trapping, and was asked the same question in interview and couldn't solve. I also want to earn more and get into some big company and stay there for some times, what shall I do? My concerns are, I am getting lesser calls this time compared to the last few years, I can't be switching job every two years. Want to join a big company and earn more.

I will be using a scale of 10 for better quantification. Python : 7/10 SQL: 7/10 PowerBI: 9/10 ML(Pandas): 6/10 PLSQL: 6/10 Advanced Excel: 8/10 Azure Databricks + DataFactory : Started learning Apache Spark: Started learning Communication skills: 9/10 Prior Work Ex: 1.8yrs as a PLSQL developer (started off as a fresher) + one SAP internship of 4months + one Data analyst internship of 1 month Aspiration : Data Engineering Role 1. Is the above techstack enough to get me a good data engineering role? Will I be able to clear the technical rounds at companies like accenture, IBM etc with this profile? I have heard the barrier to entry for data engineering is higher than that of data analyst. 2. Do I need to learn DSA? 3. What salary range do I fall in with this profile? I seek your honest answer. I feel lost. Also, should I focus more on improving my cloud skills or shall I be more competent with my python skills? Which one would pay me off in a better sense financially? I certainly can not focus on all the tools at once.

Why are some tech bros so arrogant in terms of hiring advice. Always seeing on Twitter seeing alpha macho software engineers saying if you can't do leetcode the world is going to eat you up and you're not gonna make it. Are these people psycho? Why do they think that if you don't follow their recommended path you're doomed forever. This shit is making me depressed.

Hello awesome Devs!! How do you keep up the motivation to grind leetcode after a regular job? For example, I am a software developer with 1 YOE and I find it boring to continue with those algorithm problems after a certain threshold. But anyway, I feel the hiring process is still the same for most and there would at least 2 DSA rounds for most of the product based companies. How do you keep up the motivation for this?

HI There, Iam a third year Engineering Student, and my Placment Season is going to start next Sem and I think I have fucked up big time . Because I don't know Programming ,haven't started doing DSA and have been careless and also the market condition are not that great currently so quite worried so if any tips you guyz could give on what to do and how in this short time frame.
