Folks this week could be the Amazon Layoffs

Got to know from my skip manager that there will be another round of layoffs starting Monday.

Rumor mill is fired up since a week and all meetings with senior leadership this week have been removed from calendars without any notice! Also noticed that several leaders are WFH today. Guessing that is to avoid nervous conversations and to engage in private meetings over phone calls to decide which heads they are going to chop off. The 🔔are going off! Prepare yourselves!

Had heard from someone that there were layoffs supposed to happen this week at AWS. Just heard from a colleague that someone they know was asked to leave today. Does anyone know more?

People who were affected just got emails. Orgs include Search, Cloud, Ads , Assistant, Pixel, etc. Engg is affected

I’ve heard of you have a 1:1 scheduled with your manager for today or for later in the week you will be laid off. I think I’m safe according to the above. But still super nervous

Amazon Microsoft, Google, etc. All layying off people. They just started sending emails today morning for US/Canada. India/EU would be sent next week so we dont know the exact numbers yet. Same information going on Blind, hundreds of Amazon employees laid off in the morning.

There have been some rumors and isolated reports of layoffs in Amazon India. Is there any truth to the story? If so, which teams have been impacted / are likely to be impacted?

According to a report, Amazon will be terminating 10,000 jobs starting this week, which represents less than 1% of its 1.5 million global employees and around 3% of the company's corporate staff.

Google slowly laying off employees in one country after another is the most nerve wracking move. Couple days back they cut employees in Australia and similarly they keep laying off in a new country each week. Must be so enervating for employees. IMO meta and Amazon handled layoffs much better
