There are 2 options either Data Science/Product Manager. No Major MNC will give you data science directly from data analysts. Better make a switch within that startup.

Right now I am finding switching within startup quite thin. Still I try to do it.

Another I am thinking that. Will it be good if after interning, I try to join a MNC as data analyst and then after some time move towards some ML engineer / data scientist kind of role internally which are more focused towards coding and applications.

It is generally considered as when you join FAANG you are a software developer, with tags such as SDE I or II or III. But I've heard very little about analysts/data engineers/data scientists in these companies. I am a B.Tech final year student and I'll be joining a Data Analysis startup firm in June this year. So I wanted to know about my future opportunities in FAANG companies, I want  to know if the salaries offered by these companies for such roles are similar to the Developer role and firstly do they provide opportunities for students coming from a background like mine?

I am a fresher working as a Data analyst in a growing startup. My current role doesn't include much of coding just python and SQL and sometimes little bit ML work. Currently handling 2 projects, and some of PM work to define some roadmaps.
I like engineering and coding in whole and want to know more. So do I switch to some SDE role or is there are more paths after Data analytics? I know ML, DL and NLP but not sure will it be a great choice to make career primarily in Data science.
So, I am little confused. Please give all good advices.

What's after Data Analyst post?

Currently I have 1.5 yoe as a data scientist with CTC of 6 lpa. Thinking of transitioning to Data Analyst or SDE but can't figure out. I have graduated in Mechanical Engineering, so I don't have the pedigree to become a good SDE. What you all think?

Subsequently, also an offer from Fintech PBC.

Tech stack at Startup: Java, Spring, MongoDB 

Tech stack at Fintech PBC: Testing framework and tools

Startup stipend: 25,000 Rs
Fintech PBC stipend: 60,000 Rs

My inclination is more towards the SDE role purely because of the wide exposure while the money at Fintech is too good for now but there is not much room from growth and also with Al taking over

SDE Intern vs SDET Intern

Hey everyone , I am currently working in a consulting company with most work being in sql in snowflake and databricks and python. I wanna switch to sde or data engineer role. Does anyone have experience how can I switch. It seems like analyst in profile is not good. I am already trying to do DSA again.

How to switch to sde role

I recently got placed in a good product based company and was assigned in Data Engineering team 1-2 weeks ago as an intern.

I always wanted to be a Software Development Engineer and I really like to develop applications, websites etc and I also really enjoy it. I even purchased an expensive system design book to learn and implement how they build scalable apps etc because I find it very interesting.

I never persued the data domain because I don't like stats and all the maths. Avoided AI/ML in college. Sure, I can work and learn about it in my free time, but I don't prefer it as a job right now.

I couldn't develop my interest in data engineering after researching about it online for hours. Yes, the stack is cool and different, they build pipelines and all but it looks boring to me. I also read few comments saying that freshers are rarely hired for this role and one should work as an sde for few years before switching to this domain, and also they are paid ≤ SDEs depending on the company.

What should I do now? Please guide me seniors🙏 Am I stuck in this forever or can I switch to SDE anytime I want? I am open to trying this role but then I am also scared that it'd may be too late or too hard to switch to SDE by then..?

P.s. This is my first job, never worked in a company before so I don't know how things work.

Aspiration : Data Engineering Role

1. Is the above techstack enough to get me a good data engineering role? Will I be able to clear the technical rounds at companies like accenture, IBM etc with this profile? I have heard the barrier to entry for data engineering is higher than that of data analyst.

2. Do I need to learn DSA?

3. What salary range do I fall in with this profile? 


I seek your honest answer. I feel lost. 

Also, should I focus more on improving my cloud skills or shall I be more competent with my python skills? Which one would pay me off in a better sense financially? I certainly can not focus on all the tools at once.

Rate My Techstack: Potential Data Engineering Roles

It's almost been one year since I starting working as a data analyst (first job overall) at a saas startup. It's been good so far, learnt a lot about business as well as data, but feeling kinda saturated now. I find growth/ product roles to be more attractive (direct impact on the growth of the org). But I'm an unsure where to start, and what are the skill sets that I need to have. Being in data I'm well versed with SQL, data pipelines and some business functions as well. If anyone has any thoughts, feel free to share!

Transitioning out of Data Analytics

So, I got placed on-campus as an analyst and it's about to be a year since.
While I don't hate the work I do and have excellent work life balance (unsure if i require it tbh 😅), I feel I can better showcase and hone my skills in a software development role, given that I have a degree in computer science and simply, enjoy coding (I've automated nearly every task I have been given as an analyst at my current job.)

I'm looking to join a fast-paced environment by the 2nd half of this year.
