Glassdoor reviews authenticity and choosing a good company

Hey guys I wanted to ask how authentic are reviews which are posted on glassdoor about a company. Its getting very hard for me to choose a company I am getting some interview calls but when I look up the company on glassdoor, some reviews are quite shitty and are telling people to stay away from the company. I know that It depends on team to team, but then how do you decide to join the company, reviews are the only thing we have to judge. Moreover, even if the reviews are good, how do you know they are legit because there are many PR companies at work, posting fake reviews are nothing but childs play. How do you guys decide to join a company?

Its your gut feeling eventually. Glassdoor reviews can be compromised as it might involve folks leaving on bad terms or laid off for various reasons. Plus orgs can push across reviews in their favour as well. Just decide on the basis of your interview, manager review, feedback of someone belonging to the current team. Work is work and you are paid to get things done.

Good reviews are posted on LinkedIn and bad reviews are posted on Glassdoor.

Trust your gut feeling. Most of the one line reviews are by people who joined in < 6 months and the HR had a chat with to “understand how they’re getting used to the work”. Or, from folks who want to use Glassdoor but can’t do so without giving the review. The ones that are longer are what I trust. Right balance of positive and negative! Reading 6-7 pages should give you a certain vibe about the company.

Best to assume reviews (good and bad) are slightly exaggerated unless they're very specific. Usually the interview loop and interactions in the final minutes will give you a good idea
