Google pay vs Phonepe infrastructure
Situation: at a store I first paid via UPI on phonepe. Money was deducted from my bank account, but the transaction was not completed (and it is still processing) , the receiver didn't get the money. After a few minutes I tried via Google pay. Money was deducted and transferred successfully. Can anyone point out why this happened. At the core is there something different in system infrastructure for the both?
They are just built on top of UPI infra, not much different. You ll get the money back if it wasn’t credited to shopkeeper.

Thanks. But just based out of curiosity, is there anything different on the fundamental level how they work
It all depends on fulfilment. Google pay would have shown you a successful transaction but the credit to merchant could take some time. Whereas in these situations PhonePe doesn’t do the transaction to avoid the chances of payment failing. Faced this personally

Maybe this is what I am talking about, but here is from the payer side
First tried via phonepe: payment failed, but money was deducted from my bank account (so I had to pay again the shopkeeper)
Then I paid via gpay, payment was successful, money was deducted also.
Now from a consumer pov, I knew the shopkeeper so I had trust , but what if I didn't know the shopkeeper
PhonePe actually not allow me to pay if there are multiple transaction failure happens to my bank
