HRs being HRs
After getting laid off, I have been talking to multiple HRs at different companies but the responses from them have been brutally slow. Are they trying to take advantage of my desperation or is there a hiring slowdown in India (irrespective of the numerous job openings I see everywhere)
Slowdown is there. Most companies in India were running on VC funded money which is drying quickly.
They’ve lots of options rn. Market is in their favor.
Expected. They’re optimizing for highest roi

Agreed. But they should at least be responsive. If they have not learnt this lesson during the last 2 years, I am afraid the respect for HR folks will never go up.

The freeze is real. Most open roles are where the hiring managers have forgotten to close them out.

These are freshly opened roles I am talking about.
The interview processes are really slow. One company literally took 3 weeks to respond to case study.

I know. Sometimes i feel they give assignments not to check skills of candidates but to delay the process and “shop around” some more
Yes. Because now the tides are in their favour. But at the same time, if you have been able to leave a strong mark during the interview, they will surely come back to you and literally hound you to join the company.
Completely agree with you. HRs are ghosting candidates like girls ghost folks on Tinder.

It’s not like HR are taking advantage. There is a large supply Vs less demand.
Companies have simply closed down hiring. My firm has cut down 65% openings for 2023.
My firm isn’t hiring at all. I work at one of the fintech firms in India
Almost every Fintech firm is focusing on lending now. Distribution toh ban hi gaya already. Everyone wants to get a bite of the total lending market in India. That’s the only way they would survive.

If everyone is going after lending just like every Tom Dick & Harry entered the EV market, it is not going to end well for most
