Hardware companies and software profile

Hey guys a master's student here . So it's finally that time of year placements have started and the first companies to arrive are the hardware companies like micron , TA etc

So here's the question is it ok to start your career in these companies considering they are not SDE profiles ? I am aware that the highly specialised roles that these companies offer will end up becoming dead end in longer run . They are offering position only for the masters students

How difficult would it be to transition into different core cs companies?

My coding skills are not that great , still grinding out leetcode ?

Should I just end up joining these hardware companies or wait and try to crack sde positions ? (The competition is extremely high for those companies and undergrads are great coders)

I have never been a coder , was always that guy with the managerial skills who understands the coding side.I respect it . I wanted to live the life of a programmer before moving onto the managerial side . Well this is my professional answer . But recently during masters I have done extensive research in NLP and have started to enjoy it . Ideally would love to do that and then move onto the managerial side of things

These hardware companies pay well, better wlb, more stable from a career point of view than most core software companies (except Google and Microsoft)

Yes i understand but in worst case job hopping is extremely limited as the role is super specialised and the number of companies that you can apply to is limited ( is my understanding of it ).

Your assessment is correct. If you want to get into these stable companies later on in your career, that would be difficult as well. It works both ways. Stable career vs job hopping but the risk of layoffs. The layoff threat is not going away any time soon.
