Has any of you witnessed a boardroom coup?

My experience in board rooms is limited but I think in the real world, coups happen much slower than people think (and generally outside the boardroom). They happen so slowly that even founders see them coming a long way off and often comply because they've lost enough ground to not be able to fight back.
There may be exceptions of course, esp. when there's excessive and sudden issues like fraud, gross negligence, etc. that come up.
Most PE / VC investors just want a stable ship.
