Have received a notice from income tax

Got an email from payroll team that Income Tax dept. has flagged some employees ITR of our org. Seems false claims and deductions. Giving one time opportunity to rectify and re file ITR of last 3 years to avoid further action! Has this happened to you too or its just me? Suggestions? 🥺

Has anyone ever received a notice from the Income Tax department for declaring an HRA component without giving the relevant proofs to their employer? Guys working from home, how do you claim HRA?

Anyone here who got the notice from income tax regarding mismatch in form 16 and return filled? I did not get chance to declare investments to my previous employer and they deducted a big amount of money. Post that in itr i declared a bit more but now got a mail that there is mismatch in form 16 and itr filled. They have given 2 option: 1. Claim that declared itr is true to the best of knowledge. 2. Revise the return. Anyone who has experienced the same?

I’ve used a persons PAN and its name for claiming HRA of 12k but it get rejected saying name mismatch and now I don’t have the actual PAN to tally as i’ve relocated. So now can i change to some other landlord’s PAN and Name for the whole year and submit it with 12k claim or new PAN with 8333 as it will be less than 1lac yearly so they won’t verify the name change. What shod i do pls suggest? Also if I’ll not provide submit any info for HRA will i get the tax rebate for 1 lac yearly?

Asking for a friend who is not on GV: Hi, while submitting HRA proofs, I forgot to attach the previous rent agreement which covered the first 5 months of the year. As a result, the team has come back and only approved hra claim for the period covered in the current agreement. They are saying there is no way for us to reupload additional proofs (previous agreement) for company-level hra processing, and that we should claim these remaining hra savings while filing taxes. Has anyone done so before? What is the process? Please advise, thank you.

So like many/some of us, I claimed HRA more than actually paid quoting my landlord pan. Now when he was filing ITR, his CA found this out, probably through AIS. He asked me to get it fixed and vacate. Question: 1. Has anyone else faced it? 2. What would be the best solution? My CA suggested to request the landlord to accept that extra income on ITR and pay tax. I will offer her to pay the difference, Reason being that if he rejects, it will eventually come to me as IT notice and then I would need to provide evidence which I won’t have for inflated amount .

Seems like since last year the focus of government has shifted from actually making beneficial policies to enable innovation and growth of India to just collecting taxes blindly. They just want to harvest tax in as many ways possible and kill the middle class person. First it was crypto. Then us salaried individuals started receiving notices. Then they levied 28% GST on online gaming. Now they are also checking proofs for HRA allowance and other stupid stuff which wasn't done before. I was wondering why there is a sudden increase in such incidents? Is the government hiding something? Are they running out of money? Or are they just smoking weed just like us and making stupid rules?
