How To Start a Business

I have a few ideas for products I want to build in few niche spaces. At the same time I’m always a bit skeptic in discussing this with friends thinking they might ask for too much equity in partnership The downside is that I feel I have to know everything to even get started How did you do it? If you built your startup, at what point in your life while working full time you started working your own thing and how was the journey like? Any tips you’d give a budding entrepreneur

I need ideas? Ideas? And ideas?

To be very honest I feel very frustrated looking at the situation right now. Companies are laying off without worrying about the employees. It's just corporate profits everywhere. I am scared to death that my career won't last long than 20 years because the moment these folks think you are becoming a financial burden on them, they'll lay you off. I don't want to live my life in a constant war mode. The Indian education system has bruised my personality for a long time. I want to relax but looking at this battlefield I can never. My weekends are spent worrying about planning for finances in case I get laid off. I am worried I won't be able to buy a house. This shit is depressing me very much. Other folks please tell me how are you navigating this mess?

Let's say you want to start a start up like a scalar academy. How would you go about it? Will you do marketing first to bring in customers or register as a company? Start hiring people or spend on ads? Just curious to know how people start up, and what's their first step. Please share your insights, it might help someone start later on. Thanks for the input

Im working as a developer in a unicorn startup with good salary for my age. But from college time I was interested in entrepreneurship trying different thing and later after completing college I joined this unicorn and worked hard, shifted to their new stealth startup and worked there with for 1yr, tried to work in every possible opportunity that I got with design team, product managers and learnt how to build a startup from scratch, but later due to creative issues in top level management and less revenue than the competitors the startup was shutdown and I was moved back to the unicorn and again started working as an developer. Tried different things from then 1. Tried joining top B schools but couldn’t afford 2. Tired pitching ideas to friends, seems like no one interested in taking risk leaving the life they have now 3. Tried starting few things on my own but always end up failing with no support 4. Tried attending conferences but that too never led me anywhere Now don’t have as many friends interested in entrepreneurship or mentors to guide me. Just passing the days doing the same work again and again please suggest me what to do next or give me any kind of advice

1. I am having a strong problem statement, which is thoroughly validated, along with a business plan, but I am not working or starting it as I lack confidence because I don't have a team in place. ( I am an IIM graduate and currently a product manager - giving these details just to get a sense of my background, which might help in the type of suggestions from your side). 2. How can I find a co-founder/partner/core team member? Please advise me on where to look for co-founders or people that share a similar mindset. 1. Novel/new business idea 2. Degrees/MBAs 3. Experience/reputation 4. Money (hardly 20-30k to register company) 5. CTO 6. Employees/Co-founders 7. External investment 8. Website/app 9. Social media accounts 10. Office location (register home as office) Far too many people focus on needing xyz before starting up. Most of them are excuses and self-imposed roadblocks from what I've seen in my conversations with people. I'm currently working on 2 ventures that still have many items missing from this list. Doesn't really stop me from making revenue and profit. Sure, there may be some things required from this list for specific businesses and at diff stages. But they are mostly an extra, good to have but not required. What is required in copious amounts is courage and will power, willingness to face rejections and ability to withstand multiple failures only to get back up and try again. Also, a healthy enough risk appetite. I hope to see more young and talented folks (especially MBA grads) start their own thing some day. Best time is in your twenties and early thirties, when you have little to lose.
