I think monetization of deeper Indian audiences beyond top cities has been a tough task for all startups.  
  
 Sharechat were great at product growth.  But I can see how monetization doesn’t scale similarly.

Each division is being asked to join a call and they are being announced.
First call with product org - around 50 folks were impacted

They moved to a new massive swanky Office 3 months ago. Team parities were happening even last week. And they do this in last week of the year spoiling the new year plans of hundreds of folks!

The fundraise is an extension of its convertible debt round in which it has already raised $49 million from Tencent and existing investors such as Lightspeed

Sharechat raises $16Mn in extended debt round. Also laid off 5% workforce.

This morning, ShareChat laid off twenty percent of it's entire staff. The laid off employees were locked out of their system and received the communication of their lay off in their personal email. This is the biggest layoff by ShareChat so far. Many of the features of the ShareChat and Moj app have been told to shut down and their entire team is fired. The employees are offered 45 days of severance pay, leave encashment, bonus and are allowed to keep their system with them.

Competitors like Sharechat seem to be struggling with string of layoffs and founders jumping ship. 
Is Daily Hunt also in the same boat?
They hired Umang Bedi from Facebook but has he been able to turn it around.
