How is Infosys in terms of employee benefits?
Like food (free or not), insurance and other stuff
Food isn’t free, but some canteens are subsidised.
Insurance is decent, if you get into Edgeverve, ₹9L cover is default and the insurance desk is actually helpful when required.
Policy-wise, they look for long term growth over short term gains. The entire ethos of the company is to reward long term (20-25 years). This changed when the last founder of Infosys retired and meritocracy kicked in temporarily during Dr. Vishal’s leadership.
But it shifted very soon and now we are neither here, nor there. If you’re constantly performing for 7-10 years, you’re rewarded with decent pay hikes (market median) and if you complain, folks listen to you and make corrective changes.
If you don’t have that much skin in the game in Infosys, it’s going to be a little tough because there are 0 short term gains.
The yearly hikes are a joke, promotions are opaque and management probably invests in the best noise cancelling earphones because they seem to not hear what their own employees are screaming about.
To be fair to the management, they plan TOO much into the future. So in a long run, Infy will see lesser layoffs than their peers & will also see lesser profit as a by product.
But, overall - a lot of this depends on which project you get into. If you are interviewing, ask the interviewer to tell you what you’d be working on if you joined tomorrow. If you don’t have a satisfactory answer, don’t join.
