Even in such a rescission drowned market jobs for software developers is not less. But on contrast the data engineering market is just doomed and every 10 Dev job there is 1 data job.

Hi everyone, I wanted to know how is the hiring going on these days on Data science space. I have been looking out for a switch for 3 months now, applying through various companies yet have only received one interview call. 

When I see LinkedIn, naukri or other portal sites, there are plenty of openings in the companies yet. 
And don't get me wrong, I see folks getting offers as well. So, how is are things going here. 

PS: in the one interview I had, I was rejected after the second round. They didn't shared the reason, but could be one of the things where I don't have on project experience with NLP and Gen AI.

I just went to LinkedIn and looked for Data Analyst and Data engineer roles, browsed some job posts in Bengaluru and some others. There are very few roles available and a lot of applicants for each job, forget entry level, there's very few posts for specific roles.

Same case with Indeed and others as well. I don't know when the situation will improve for this field

An actual dumb thing I said was at my first Data Science interview at a top tech company here in Bangalore. Interviewer asked me about my projects, and me being unpolished, I said that I had done a regression project. So he asked me how did I measure whether the model was "good".

I said that, "The accuracy of the model was high"

Interviewer responded with, "...You know Regression tasks are measured with MAE/MSE/RMSE and not accuracy, right?"

Lmao. You live and you learn. 🤡

Most Uneducated/Dumbest Thing You Have Said In a Data Science Interview?

I have been working as a SAP ABAP consultant (as primary domain) but I do handle the Data Engineering/Integration activities in my project(from 3 years on n off). And now I feel like I'm becoming Jack of all and king of none. 
Data engineering is interesting and I'm getting inclined towards it. 
Could anyone please guide me through, how shall I change my domain and what all do we expect in interviews? N how the market and opportunities outside?

I am from a non CS background. Worked as a freelancer in my field in 2021. Took a break in 2022 to figure things out.

Now I have a good portfolio in Data field.

Would like to know which companies are looking for fresher Data analysts to join them...

Been applying on LinkedIn, Wellfound and other job boards, only 1 called me for an interview so far and I have failed.

Most don't respond to my applications.

Couldn't DM people on LinkedIn, because they have premium.

Would love to get a referral or let me know any companies that are hiring for Data roles.

Preferably startups, small companies and any company with below 5000 employee count.
