How to get promoted in the same company?

I am working in Consulting post MBA - it is a mix of PM, Product Strategy, Implementation projects. I can work on industries and multiple offerings so learning is widespread but a slow upward curve. Pay is good considering my previous experience and peers. Work life balance is also decent. But, they are not giving promotions in my team because of some stupid leadership decisions. I will have to wait for next 6 months. So I am in dilemma if I should stay or switch. If you were in a similar situation, how did you make your decision?

I am a backend engineer, working in a tech powered fashion company. Total experience: 3.5 yrs Current CTC : 24 lac fixed, 12 lacs ESOP in 4 years I joined as a software engineer, this April I will complete 2 years in current company, but Manager saying promotion might not be possible due to current situation and less promo slots available. I have been quite a good performer last 2 years , building a crucial project from scratch and handling everything alone due to short staffing. There is sole dependency on me for that project and company has ambitious golas with that project this year. Recently got SPOT award from skip manager as well. Only talked to manager last week , although we had made a promotion action plan few months back for my promotion this cycle and I meticulously followed every points in that plan , manager doesn't seem to be fighting much for my promotion, although he always says in my face that I am his star performer. I am really upset with this. What should I do ?? Talk to skip manager? Consider switching company ? Please suggest me. Thanks. P.S : work culture and wlb is good here. I am working as SDE 1 in a good Indian startup. It's getting toxic day by day. Late night workings like 3AM and working on weekends is normalised like anything. Since I am new to IT ( no sort of politics never) and have almost 2.5 Years of experience, I am facing issues in getting credits. Last appraisal cycle in January, I was nominated for promotion but wasn't given to me, reason: you have not worked with architect and he was making decisions. In that case, architect should have been distributed tasks to us. one SDE3 is leading one of the projects ( not a big one ) and manager/architect is not much interested and never join any standup or retro, I have contributed immensely to that. Now since it is completely driven by sde 3 , he takes updates from us and show his work infront of seniors and director + announces like his work and seldom we get thank you in threads. Like if you did one function or wrote complete flow, for both thank you. Because of all these reasons, my work is not getting recognised. There is no one in team to help in this. Whenever a manager or Architect show cases some features or release, it's pretty evident that his team has done it but when a sde 3 does it, it is not the same. It conveys the message all or 90% work is done by him. I would like to take some suggestions from my seniors and fellow mates here. Hierarchy - sde 1-2-3-4-EM I can't leave or switch right now due to some critical persona reasons.

Been working with a pre series A level startup for about 3 years being my first job. Paid about 20-25lpa for a full stack role. Engineering + product team is still single digit strength as we are not pureplay tech company. Had a great learning because of a good manager and 0-1 kind of work we did but I am starting to feel stagnated because of following reasons 1. We don't have anything like SDE1, 2 etc because there are very few devs. 1 manager and everyone else is an SDE. The company doesn't intend to hire more for at least an year.. so i won't see any title level promotion or any role that feels senior despite being around for a while 2. Salary. Want to know if I am behind the standard pay because i belong to tier 1.5ish college. Big tech seems to pay more for 3yrs workex as usually people become sde2 by then

I have around 5+ years of experience. I am an sde-2 currently that too because I made a switch. I think I am not able to crack the formula for getting promoted within the company. I made three switch even though I had decent bond with manager and colleagues somehow I didn’t get promoted I have spent about 2+ years in my last two companies. Not sure how do I plan my day or what I need to change. My ambition is to become director/ vp someday but at this pace looks like either I will be an sde-2 or have to leave tech. Please give your suggestions as what to do

Hi I have worked in two startups as backend engineer and here I only did the given work and didnt proactively contribute much to the products. I have been given promotion to SDE 2 without any salary hike. I recently got laid off and I feel like I am not eligible for SDE 2 interviews. I can clear dsa rounds but suck in design rounds. I got a job with same salary at a service based company and I am thinking to join and then prepare to be better at design. is it a good decision? should I join it? YOE: 3y TC: 24L

Working as an SDE2 right now. Got promoted recently. Motivation to work is at an all-time low. Feels like I am stuck in a rat race. Is this normal? I see senior engineers in my team and frankly, I don't want to end up like them in the next few years. Immense respect for their skills and what they bring to the table, but I don't see myself doing that. I have a few options to consider: Bucket 1 Keep grinding at my current role Decent growth (career and money) Stable life, certainity Low Risk, Moderate Reward Bucket 2 Coast at current role Look for a switch (preferably outside India) Make a lot of money Basically, follow this and keep climbing the ladder Boring AF Bucket 1 and Bucket 2 can probably be merged, keeping them separate as it is very different in reality. Bucket 3 (The Interesting Bucket) Coast at current role Build micro-SaaS solutions, contribute to open source, build problem solving attitude Startup someday Could result in slow growth, might end up wasting a few years. The real constraint? I have to support a family. All expenses. We have no other income source at this point. Taking any risk with income is a big deal for me. Just ranting here. I am not expecting a clear pick. Just looking for more opinions on what I am thinking, and maybe understand if I am overthinking.

I am 2022 passout 24 yr old.I have joined one service based startup after college for 6.2 Lakh.But Out of 10 months I was on the bench for 8 months so in that period I have prepared for interview and Got the offer of 17 LPA.Its been 8 months in this job , But from last 2-3 months my growth is stagnant and I got bored as their is not much work as well.So should I go for another switch or wait ?

I find myself in a rather perplexing situation at work and could use some impartial advice. Currently, I am employed at an Indian e-commerce firm where I have put in a lot of hard work. However, during the recent annual cycle, I was not promoted, and my salary hike was disappointingly meager (CCTC 14.5LPA). Naturally, I expressed my concerns to my manager, who advised me to wait until the mid-cycle as my promotion case would be reconsidered then. In the meantime, I actively sought out new opportunities, and I have received an enticing offer from a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) firm with a significantly higher compensation of 24LPA. This is substantially more than what I'm currently earning, but less than my expected CTC that is around 28-30LPA. The confusion lies in the fact that my current firm has now initiated the promotion feedback process, and it's possible that I may get the promotion soon. I'm now torn between two choices: do I stay at my current job, potentially get the promotion, and then reconsider switching, or do I seize the opportunity at the CPG firm with the better financial package? I understand that both options have their pros and cons, but I'm finding it challenging to make a decision on my own.
