How to make the most of conferences?

I'll be attending my first ever conference next weekend at India FOSS 3.0. Although there are a handful of presentations which intrigued me and I'll be attending those, my primary motive is to network and connect with people. So what are the do's and don'ts, and how should I get the most out of this conference? And how do I make lasting meaningful connections with people?

to network and connect

Take an ethernet cable. Ask for permission before, uhh, connecting.

(Jokes aside, this is a good conversation starter :p)

Haha might have to take one to stand out from the crowd. Instead of me approaching people, people will approach me to inquire my intentions :p

Tips appreciated
