I am scared now.

Hi folks, I got laid off in Sept. since then looking for a Job. market is so scary. Few questions: 1. a lot of companies are hiring through crewscale, etc. they are offering low salary as per the role. are companies paying low salary to them or they are taking a big cut? do people treat them differently once they join a company via crewscale? 2. I am not able to get my resume shortlist for mncs. what to do now? recently my friend got a call from razorpay gehy were offering for sde role 15 lakh for 2 years experienced. they were paying 22 lakh for sde 1 last year. the role is not product engg or solution ennggg that they recently introduced for low salary. it was sde role. fat rhi h ab. kya kru?????? my exp: 2.5 backend

Take whatever you can get. Leverage will only come when you have multiple offers, which is very difficult given the market scenario.

It indeed is a tough market dude. I had to apply to more than 70 roles in the last 3 months to get about 20 calls. Of them 7 materialized to interview. 6 of them asked for a pay cut compared to what I was making before getting laid off. Finally chose one which agreed for 30% hike provided that I work from office, after showing them my previous offers. If you are getting low balls, take one, and get next offer based on that and shop. It's hard, but still doable if you can show your confidence to the recruiter. If you are not getting calls at all, get your resume checked for impact. Make sure to rewrite every point as such that it shows an impact.

I got laid off in September as well. Took one month off for myself and decided to start applying again in October. Have landed 3 offers, 2 more in line. The hike won’t be much like last year, hell even some predatory HRs will want you to take a paycut. Don’t worry if you have enough preparation and skills, you can land a job with decent hike. Start with these steps: 1 just try to make your resume ATS friendly first. 2 check LinkedIn, how many views are you getting on your profile every week, and what do the viewers do. If there are no recruiters in that update or rewrite whole LinkedIn profile 3 do leetcode daily even if you feel unmotivated. 4 Apply 5 Don’t deal with the bullshit some HRs throw around, you can reject them.

What should I do, i am final year mechanical engineering student who is trying to enter into product/ business analyst roles , i have 2 internships. I also talked to a friend of mine from iit roorkee, he is saying the same about product management that market is tight, neither I m getting good responses from recruiters nor the companies are coming for placements, should I upskill myself or continue with something else , I was also planning for masters in management abroad within next two years, hope the situation will be better by then

Razorpay is too smart!

The company did around 10-15% silent layoffs in the last cycle by putting people in PIP. My Manager told me that he has pressure on him to put at least 1 or 2 people in PIP, make them leave the company and reduce costs. Later, the company did as low an appraisal as 2%. Senior folks are leaving specifically Frontend Developers. Salaries of a lot of SDE-2 are below 30 LPA. They have started new positions called Product Developers which will do the same work as SDEs but with a lesser package. PD-1 salary is around 10-12 lakhs and of Lead PD is 20-22 lakhs. The company is putting itself in a position where it wants people to leave on their own. There are almost zero perks in the company. The team outing budget is a joke which is 2k INR per person per year. That is 500 rupees per person per quarter. Also making office mandatory from November.
