Thought's on recent IT job market

What does unemployment around you look like? Or if not around us, for people trying to come out of Tier 2/3 towns. These mass recruiters (behemoths like Capgmeni & Cognizant + TCS Infosys) are actually the gateway for many into a city life. In the absence of it, it's scary to think what they're up to.

What happens to those 1.5L students/professionals? Scares me everyday.

We probably will see an unprecedented economic divide in this country going forward if the unemployment rate stays this high. 
 And we know for a fact the government has tried to suppress this number to paint a rosy picture

Working in TCS Kolkata and really looking for a job change. Current scenario is terrible at work .
BFSI not paying the full variable allowance for over 2 years.
Salary hikes much lower than industry standard.
Terrible atmosphere at office where people are trying to put blame on others .
Whoever goes for tea with manager is supposedly most important resource in the project.
BaNCS product platform is the worst example of product yet company is forcing us to work on it.
Manager refuses to release from project even after multiple request.
5 days mandatory attendance at office is expected with threats of deduction from salary in case of less attendance 
No timings maintained.People are calling at night and expecting to get work done at the spot.So people are expected to work both at office and home which is taking a toll on personal life.
Leaves are not getting granted for no reason.
Promotion pending for over 2 years with no ETA from manager.

Day by day we are seeing lot of negative news from one or the other reputed companies (Politics, toxicity). 

Getting into software role is gamble these days or coming (cuz... we Beggar cant be chooser). Things from here are likely to change for some of the person surely. 
There are folks preaching patience is the key, but likely talks about ethics and empathy they follow or do. (**atitude prevails)

Everyone is planning to make others fool or control. People are working to show case and make himself secure in his role and he'll do whatever he can for it. and Even your leader have no autonomy but pushing to toxic chasing. (lack of vision **fooling)

Remind me once a scar or experience hit you, you never forget it. You can choose to ignore and not talk about and move to other glorification of comparing package later in next org.


I am not sure how many time such timeline have came in IT in past 30 years. But definitely the problems of today is different with diff pace and Zero empathy or ethics. cuz no one cares.

I have about 5 YOE and looking for a job change. While I received so many calls from startups for SSE backend roles. During initial discussions I often let the HR know that I am earning 28 lakhs as CTC and I ask for 40 lakhs CTC, they say that they will get back to me but they never do so. Am I doing something wrong? Am I asking for too much. Should I wait for the market to get back to normal?
PS: I definitely have the major set of skills they are expecting for the job role.

Salary that needs to be negotiated

So I’m trying to switch. Apparently my resume is not getting any responses. Possible reason : I’m not skilled enough. Since past two weeks I have started up skilling myself by doing DSA and reading different articles. (Obv this is along with a full time job) 

The dilemma is I cant decide if I should resign and properly prepare for the interviews or should I continue as I’m doing right now.

Because there lots to learn and the time I’m dedicating is not enough.

Ps: I’m a non IT guy with ~2 YOE trying to learn and adapt to IT world and new tech stacks.

Any constructive suggestions would be really appreciated.

SE Dilemma

There are rumours that fresh rounds of layoffs were to happen in next two weeks. Here is my take on the layoff spree.

High inflation, low jobs, less on spending, economic meltdown for IT employees, impact on IT cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Chennai. 

Less spending on equity, mutual funds, real estate(premium villas, apartments). Chances of housing loan defaults, NPA on raise and the recession crisis. This will go for next 6 months. So, stay where ever you are. Don’t change jobs in this market

I got transferred from Bangalore to Gurgaon due to family reasons but I feel here there is no job at all, The interviewer has a whole different attitude and I am getting rejected even after answering everything correctly

Job hunting becoming tough day by day

Hi! I am a 2019 CS passout and after engineering worked in my family business in mechanical sector as a sales executive. 
I am no longer interested in this field and thinking to shift to IT by relearning MERN. 

1)Currently i am 27 YO so is it too late to join IT as most people of my age are senior devs/tech leads? 
2)Will IT industry(startups/MNCs) accept me with no prior experience in dev as compared to recent passouts? 

If you’ll could advise me it would be of great help.

Sales to IT Transition Advice

Going through the interview process for a company, and they are simply not releasing the offer because they fear I will look for other opportunities, even after I have clearly stated I don't have any offer in hand, and just want me to reduce the notice period which is a fair demand I feel everyone does it. 

I get partially we are to blame for this no trust, but there has to be some level of trust, every company has notice period policies.
