Kudos to WhatsApp for protecting user privacy🙌
User privacy is a joke here. Why on Earth you want to trace all the personal chats of the users? It’s a violation of fundamental rights of the users. Well done by WhatsApp! Read the full article: http://toi.in/Dp70hY49
It feels so funny when I see that Zuck is actually trying to protect privacy😂
Apparently whatsapp seems to project itself such a nice guy, protector of the universe.
Meanwhile, when you try to share online links of products in chats or words around it, and start seeing ads on Meta. 🥲

CIA/NSA/FBI: 👀
The only remotely possible privacy thing they may have done is having disappearing messages.
But I am still not sure about that since I have worked with Backend enough to realise what soft deletes are when it comes to data records.
You mean soft deleted msg/content is still stored? Also what is a soft delete?
Yes, basically it's a method where the record is not deleted but just a field 'deleted_at' added to the record to denote the record is deleted as per the user but the record stays in the table.

It's a publicity stunt. If you read the news articles, they're saying it's prohibitively expensive for them to do it because it'll require a lot of storage. Nowhere do they say it's to protect users' privacy. That's only given as headlines
This is double standard of whatsapp.
For US they have submitted the private key and for India they are playing this drama

sure they'll leave their biggest market for our privacy... sure
Zuckerberg is class A moron. He says he is fighting for user privacy in India, but on the other hand he has nothing to say about this: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/house-votes-renew-fisa-spying-tool-earlier-republican-revolt-rcna147557
Seems like double standards to me
The government asking for this shows how controlling and insecure they are. And of course, the media won't touch this story.

So a foreign agency can run an intel operation quite securely
Privacy is a myth. That Zucker is trying to save his a** from other nations giving this excuse that WA is e2e encrypted.

Kudos to WhatsApp for not allowing others to see the data unless they pay for it

Privacy is no where in WhatsApp
Just try to message something related to terrerist whie being on Airport or somewhere in defence. You'll definitely get noticed and prevent from boarding on flight.
Such cases happened previously. Check news!'
Apparently I think govt asked WhatsApp to decrypt messages so the first sender of the messages could be traced back...it could be for the purpose of national security, terrorism, pornography and harassing opponents as well. Now afaik, WhatsApp does not store our chats on any server...these chats stay on our local storage and backup on our cloud storage....WhatsApp replied that they would have to spend billions to keep track of these messages

Fora common man, this is a non event. Dont know why city people get riled up over these things. If the government decides to snoop on my whatsapp messages all they will find it is "aathe wakt panner/doodh leke aana" messages.
