[LinkedIn cringe] Mass referrals
People out here be referring like the referral bonus is their side income hustle. Takes the entire credibility out of a referral when they do this.
What's bad in making some side income from a referral bonus? I get it posting such things is not ideal but one should not be so loyal to a company that you'll always think best for it, refer and earn as much as you can.
It doesn't matter
Integrity, my friend. The whole point of a referral is that the company trusts you to refer people you can personally vouch for.

Oh that's so funny. Company trusts you? Why the fuck are they paying HR for then? Referral is the replacement for paying external consultants to get a CV funnel, that's it. And companies pay peanuts as referral vs what they pay to recruitment consultants.

Is there credibility left in referrals anymore ?
I mean if one is referring someone who they know personally, it makes sense, else it’s just a gamble any which ways, no matter if you refer 1 or 20 people.
The former is exactly how it should be. Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to keep it in check.

Some organisations have two categories of referral, one is normal referral (you can refer anyone you know who might be a good fit) and another is personal referral (you can refer only those whom you know very well from work pov).
I believe this is a good way to handle different types of referrals and all organisations should follow this.
