Is it worth it to do Master's in 2024 considering how the whole ecosystem is evolving? Doing Master's means I won't be working for 2 years, is that worth it?

I’m a 2022 grad, hit by onboarding delay for 8 months after graduation (during those time I grinded leetcode approx ~400 questions, learnt spring boot ) Recently I joined one of the WITCH companies which I was offered in 2021. I was trained in Java but now they put me into Mainframe project dealing with COBOL programming and DB2 and I’ve never felt this underconfident and worthless in life. I’m planning for MS in CS in 2024. Does this work experience help in anyway? Is a switch needed before I apply to masters? 
I would really appreciate if anyone could suggest me what to do.

Guys. Please suggest. I have been working in wipro since the last 4 years without much career growth. I'm planning to do an ms in cs next year , i.e fall 2025 . I wanna pursue an ms  primarly bcoz of current stagnant career so that I can eventually switch to a good product based company post my masters in usa. And ,  also bcoz I can bear the costs financially. But I'm really scared to start all over again . I'll be 27 by the time I start my masters. Is it a good decision to start masters at 27? Will I be able to secure a core entry level SDE job in product based companies at the age of 29? 

Please guide me

I am currently working (2 yoe) at a decent service based startup (CTC 7L) but I feel like I could do much better. This job feels easy (nothing new to learn).

I graduated in electrical from a tire II college, since I fell in ♥️ coding (thanks to robotics club and YouTube) i choose this career, but now looking at all the other profiles I feel i am not getting access to those cheese jobs, kind of those that have high scope to learn and earn. 

So I feel like getting into a top college and getting a masters in CS might help me. 

What do you all think ?

I have Bsc CS degree from a mid college in Mumbai under Mumbai University. I don't have any side projects to write home about. I am working as a Junior dev at an early stage yc startup and I am enjoying working here and learning a lot. But people around me keep telling me that a Masters degree will open up more opportunities. So i just wanted to know, is it worth doing a masters? Or should I keep working and gain experience and build side projects?

I am currently working as an software developer (5+ years experience)with around 40LPA CTC. 

Most of the people in my circle have gone there 2-3 years back.

Now I am having a fear of missing out, I applied for a few universities and I have got an admit in MS in CS. 

Is it worth it to migrate to another country and start again at this point of my career? What is your opinion on work in USA compared to India?

Hi all, we all know how messed up the market is right now. I currently have a work experience of 1.6 years,and I am thinking if I should go for a masters in CS abroad or not. Considering the market scenario abroad I am a bit afraid to take the big leap, but right now I can see the scenario is not much better in India as well, facing difficulty in switching also. I would like to concentrate on one line - masters or job switch. Please guide me.

I’ve total 4 years of experience in data engineering. I wanted to have on-site opportunities but in this market it’s not looking easy. ( Recently switched) 

So I’m thinking to utilise this time by pursuing masters from canada / aus. Do you guys think it’s safe to let go of the job and pursue msc?

Confused if i should go for MS CS from USA or stay in India, how would you decide?

I have almost 5 years of experience as a software engineer in India.

Its been a long time now, that i am confused if i should go to US for MS considering i will have to take up a loan of 50 lakhs.

Also the layoffs are here, probably scenario will be good once the MS is over (May ‘24) , and i might be able to repay the loan.

It seems like a huge step and a risky one.

My motivation for US are
1. Foreign Exposure and Experience
2. Bank Balance for better retirement in India
As IT is uncertain and we never know what might happen in future.

What are your thoughts on this, what factors should i consider?

I'm currently working as a software engineer in India, with TC 45LPA and 2 years of experience. I'm thinking about applying for a Master's in CS in the USA for fall 2024. But I'm not sure if I want to settle there or not currently. Should I make the move considering things are going well in India? Getting a job directly in the US seems close to impossible. Any advice? I'm working as a software Engineer at a startup with almost 2 YOE. Looking at most of my friends going to usa for masters right after college i felt like I'm making a mistake by not doing the same after listening software engineers earning 100K us dollars there. I thought I'll give myself two years get some work experience and then think about it but honestly I'm still confused if i should switch(which is not proving to be so simple in the current job market) or should I go for masters (again confused here in choosing between usa or Germany or Australia). Will taking almost 40 Lakhs of loan money and doing it be worth it ? Seriously damn confused about what next step to take. When I spoke with the CTO here, he advised it's not worth and you can be earning almost similar money here soon. I'd say FOMO is also a big thing here. As i tell myself let's take the risk, 2 years of study will be done soon and then work for 3-4 years , make big money , repay the loan and get back to India. I'd be having the international exposure, experiencing some above average lifestyle than India , so confused man 

Any grapeviners who might have seen people around them taking this step please suggest me what to do, any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏

I am 22yo and just graduated from a tier 3 college with Btech degree. Currently placed in a startup as a Frontend Engineer CTC 7LPA remote. I am confused should I prepare for masters and do that or should I work hard in FE and switch after 1-2 year for better pay. 
And what one should do? Masters in Cs or MBA , I know both are different but still confused.

Hey everyone, I recently saw a lot of my college seniors moving abroad for higher studies after a couple years of experience in corporate.

I graduated in July 2023 and currently work as a software developer for a US based startup (remote).

I'm curious to understand when one should decide to do a masters abroad? What are the benefits? Should I invest my time to prepare for interviews and switch in future or prepare for admission to a masters degree?

When to pursue a Masters in Computer Science?

Currently with 3+ yrs of experience and earning around 36 LPA ( 28 fixed and 8 esops ). Getting a feeling like I am not earning enough and also I am getting a FOMO looking at my friends who are doing MS and settled in US. I want to experience it, but not sure if it’s worth it or should I look for switch to get out that fomo? It’s now or never for doing MS as I am will be getting almost 4-5 yrs experience in next few years. Also, Feeling like I am getting old for MS

Hi all. I'm currently an analyst (no exposure to DS). Is it worth doing an MS in Data Science? I do realise that upskilling without a degree is possible, but I also see a some MNCs prefer to have post grad candidates.

I am seeing a lot of people (most without and some with a good job here in India) move out to Europe and sometimes US to pursue MS. 

Is it really worth it for me to take this path if I have a decent paying job here? I think I'll have to start preparing ASAP if I decide to move, since post MS my experience here won't matter much. A person with 2 years of experience and another with a year of experience pre MS will command similar pay post MS. Pls correct me if I'm wrong.

(For context, I'm 23 and my remuneration is 20lpa at a startup)
