Mandatory WFO - Should I look out for new roles?

The title is pretty self explanatory but I'd like to give some additional context. I work at one of the stable, good biz unicorns of India. Good WLB, chill manager and work recently started to get interesting ( I joined ~10 months back). I have been getting bigger tasks and asked to look at the overall processes and monitoring. The reason I'm looking for new roles is not because I'm a prick and too good for WFO but I've come from working for a seed stage startup for ~1.5 years. So, whatever work I get here I do it in 1/2 or sometimes 1/3rd the discussed timeline and mostly the rest of the time goes in playing office politics (design, product clarifications, minor updates and QA signoffs) which I strongly believe can be done from home. Tl;dr - I get bored in the office and feel like I can use this time to learn something, build something or you know just some zazza đź’€ TC - 22 + 3 (I believe decent for 2 yoe?)

It's the same for me. Those who joined after vivid are asked for mandatory WFO. Though 2 team members are doing wfh and surprisingly who live in the city are doing wfh too. Wlb is good for me but leave policies and management is soo poor in my company. I'm thinking to ask for wfh too. Doesn't make sense that more than 50% of employees are doing wfh here.

Frankly office time is spent on much better things than what you said — “office politics”. It’s a very very limited and myopic understanding of what office offers.

I have been on a permanent wfh role since covid. Yes, been 2+ years since I stepped into an office. I stay alone and have little expenses but also 0 social life. Friends are all spread out. RANT: I HATE WFO

I'm a 2023 grad but I've worked in VC/HFT/GSoC/startups I'm so fed up with the WFO culture. What do you even get by getting employees in office? What's the point? I'm an engineer, I can write code from anywhere on the planet with internet and laptop. Been looking for a role since August, while having a solid dev ex yet all these fools are WFO that reduces half the number of companies I want to work for. Any suggestions or am I being a fool?

I have got 2 offers, one for Hyderabad location (14.5, all fixed, as they have shared space office as of now, so initially it would be WFH & once they get a proper office after some months, 2-3days WFO hybrid), & one for Pune location (16 fixed, plus some variable and other benefits, hybrid from Starting, 2days WFO) Is it worth to do WFO from starting for more money or settle for less now & go to office after some months? Are there any real pros of WFO? I haven't done WFO in my 3 year IT career
