Masters with no previous research experience
I’m graduating this year from an IIT. I didn’t participate in any research activities and was busy doing internships to support my family financially.
I will be joining a company and plan to stay in the industry for atleast 2 years to pay off my student loan.
I wanted to know is it possible for me to join a reputed institute like CMU for my masters without any previous research experience, and how i prepare my profile during these 2 years.

It's possible to do get admit into CMU .
Two of my friends made it without research experience, but there masters isn't research(thesis) oriented.
For example, if you are into Computer Science
To improve your chances
1. Decide the field , you want to specialize
Ex:- ML, Big Data, Distributed Systems etc..
And build profile around that area, next focus on specific sector (ex ML application in Health tech, AI with focus on Computer Vision etc..)
Then make your SOP, LOR based on these interests.
2. Get recommendations as much as possible to support point 1.
Application process itself tries to summarize
Why you want to do pursue MS. Good stories win
Start doing it from right now, and you will have a good chance.

Thanks for the advice
LoR’s have to come from professors right? I don’t have any professors who will write me a recommendation.
Most of the times, any professor that has taught you will give you an LOR if you just ask them. Have you tried asking any?
