Maybe because getting angry at someone is a way to avoid facing what's going on with yourself

The reverse Pareto principle applies here. We focus on the 20% thinking they're the reason we're angry / agitated / frustrated vs focusing on the 80% the onus of which lies on us.
More so it's very easy to play the blame game instead of facing your own demons.
But again, easier said than done.
I would say journaling helps massively. Just pen whatever random thought comes to you when you're angry and once you calm down, go through it. Toil through it, rip it apart even. That is where you need to work. Just be sure to rawdog that page with as-is thoughts that comes to you.

Most of the time, we vent out our repressed frustrations on the nearest people to us. It is so unfair to our genuinely caring folks that they have to bear brunt of anger eruptions now and then. Then we go in double guilt trip and it is so much worse. fck
