Monetising Mentorship 1:1
What are your views in products like topmate, mentorly etc. See a number of people putting links for 1:1 consultation through topmate where mentor gets paid for thier 'knowledge'. Has anyone signed up as a mentor or taken anything through so these mentors.
I’m divided on this , Mentorship should be free but yeah mentor’s time is precious too. So maybe don’t charge too much .
I haven’t tried these platforms though but yes mentorship can be helpful if mentor-mentee relationship is compatible .
What is 'too much' in your view
Who decides and how to decide. I have been seeing some 2 year Olds putting 5000 INR for a 1 hour call.
5000/hr is definitely too much. I would say anything above 500-1000 per hour is too much..

Paid mentorship is non sense. It like hiring a prostitute to experience married life.
Mentorship works best when there is mutual benefit. You help your potential "mentor" first. That "mentor" is happy with you and rewards you with his "mentoring", in turn you help in more. Its best when there is a quid pro quo.
A good example is visiting a doctor, if you do not know him and you consulting is thru the "fees" paid. He will treat he symptoms and that's it. Whereas if you are a friend for him, where you can meet him/her at any time/ any place , and The doctor talks to you without expecting fees from you, that treatment will be different. The doctor will look beyond your symptoms, he will really think on figuring out what is ailing you.
These mentors in Topmate as the mentioning equivalent of Fin- influencers. Rembemer that Guy who come when you are watching youtube? he will each you how to make 1cr a year, help you buy your Ferrari? Its him equivalent.
Just people trying to make more money at any cost
Saw some folks on LinkedIn starting some initiative of free TopMate to help people in need
Not sure if it picked up though or not
500-1000 won't make it scalable. Need a minimum of 5000 bucks to make it work. It has to be luxury product or service.

There are multiple problems with stuff like this. There's no market rate or standard, people don't know if what they're going for is even worth it.
Seemed like a decent idea initially but I don't see it working out much long term. Plus people will just approach the person directly and ask to pay instead of going through platform if they even need regular bookings.
