I usually take a break until I feel like Leetcoding again :D it does get boring if you continously do it for a while

But, how do you keep up the momentum? 
  
 Generally, when I start after a 3-4 months break, after solving 2-3 questions, I think like ... What's the point of all this... And eventually lose all my interest.

I do 2-3 medium/hard questions a day & then kind of reward myself everyday just to make sure that I don't burn out..  1 question per day is still better than not doing anything for 3/4 months..

How do you keep up the motivation to grind leetcode after a regular job? For example, I am a software developer with 1 YOE and I find it boring to continue with those algorithm problems after a certain threshold. 

But anyway, I feel the hiring process is still the same for most and there would at least 2 DSA rounds for most of the product based companies.

How do you keep up the motivation for this?

Motivation for interview prep?

I'm a 4th year student from a pvt college. Did 3 internships, one in a decacorn, one in a unicorn. Have an offer from Amazon for SDE 1 when i graduate, and one from the company I'm working at right now. Reached so far only with development skills, projects, hackathon wins and OSS contributions.

My leetcoding and competitive coding skills are downright garbage. I have absolutely no motivation to become a leetcode monkey and get more offers, but given the current market scenario, seems hard to get good offers without mugging up  800 leetcode questions.

Folks in software engineering who made it with leetcode, how did you do it, and what did you do to kill that builder urge and mug up leetcode. I can't do this anymore.

No motivation to do Leetcode

Hey SDEs and techies out there, plz give me an info.
I have been consistently practicing DSA for the past 4 months , I have solved around <200 problems. Now when can I consider myself an interview ready? I can understand that "mere count" doesn't matter, but as an employee/hiring manager/Recruiter how much of Leetcode (say 3000+/500+ problem) will attract you to check out the profile/give referral/get interested in?
What else will you look out for in a candidate with 2YOE? Your insights will be valuable. Thanks a ton

I could solve general problems from arrays, trees, sorting and all. I would fail miserably when the interview goes in the direction of DP problems. After a point I realised it actually doesn’t matter, you will find enough places where you are valued for your skills. 

Been a person who was on the both sides of the table, more on the side taking interviews. I realised one thing how many of us end up writing those fancy TSP code or backtracking etc day in day out. Almost most of the code we write is in some form a version of CRUD and its a reality.
Someone getting hired in google is not going to be assigned to improve their search algorithm. I know a lot of ppl who joined and left google because they were not getting to work on meaningful stuff. 

I ask real life programming stuff and I try to judge based on that, I want to see given a real scenario how the candidate thinks rather then knowing how good the person is in solving some DP problem.

Some ppl can write real good code without realising that they are actually using the best practices and design patterns and not remembering the patterns name, it sometimes just comes naturally

I see some companies (especially famous ones) are still obsessed over these leetcode type questions in interview rounds even for experienced folks, it’s frustrating.

Everyone needs a working code in the first attempt and that two proper and optimised. 

But DSA round I believe comes with luck based factor. You need to be lucky enough to get a question which you have done or seen before. 

Or have yourself updated with each structure and almost every type of problem.

Why is there nothing beyond DSA?

I am a backend engineer with a 9 year exp. In my fourth company now. Started with 5 lpa, now at 31 Lpa. 
Mostly have worked in normal companies only. I am from one of the NITs. 
I am not good at DSA. Everytime I have to switch a job, my resume gets shortlisted  and I get call via naukri. 
The things is in these last 4 job searches I have been rejected 100 times. I have been rejected by almost all the companies, 
Service now 5-6 times, oracle 5-6 times, Walmart 2 times, goldman 3 times, jpmorgan 2 times, Amazon 4-5 times, arcesium 3-4 times, msft 2 times. 
Apart from these, I have been rejected by adp, celigo, phenom, barclays, flipkart etc. 

Every time, I want to change a job, I'll get rejected by all the big companies and then will get selected at some normal company with a hike and will join them. 
I am at my fourth company now, and again I am searching for a job. Have already been rejected by GS, service now, phenom, epam, ice, demandbase in last 2 months. 
Every time it is the same DSA. 

I try studying, will do decent amount of leetcode prior to interviews. Last two months I am doing leetcode from strivers sheet. 
But same question I'll do here, and in interview will fail. Example I have done sorted array rotation, shares sell and buy, rain water trapping, and was asked the same question in interview and couldn't solve. 

I also want to earn more and get into some big company and stay there for some times, what shall I do? 

My concerns are, I am getting lesser calls this time compared to the last few years, I can't be switching job every two years. 
Want to join a big company and earn more.

How to get better at DSA?

RANT ALERT

I am a Software Engineer with 2 YoE. Wherever I apply they ask for 3+ or 5+ YoE minimum. I am hardly eligible for any roles. To one recruiter I really got angry and said "What is it that you believe 3+YoE candidates can do and 2+ can't ?" 
I got the same old reply - "It is company's policy" . I wonder who makes them. There are some really stupid people above us. 

Seriously - how does an EM decide that this position requires at least 10 YoE. I bet they haven't the slightest clue and possibly tossing a coin. Or worst, they think what they were capable of doing at 10+ YoE themselves.

Years of Experience is killing me

I graduated in 2023 and currently I am working as a back-end developer (node js)  in iot based start-up. My CTC is 5.8 Lpa and it is a WFH job.

I have some free time in a day and want to prepare for the product based company. I couldn't figure out what I should start with?
Should I grind leetcode or codeforces? 

Apart from this, what additional things should I prepare for product based companies?
Any resources I should go through?

My target is to switch in the next 6 months with some decent pay.

Currently I am in college 3rd year(EEE). Since there aren't really many jobs in EEE. I decided to pursue my carrier in software. So far I have learned full stack development and built some small websites to. Since the internship season is coming I have applied for a lot of postions on various websites but not really getting any replies. 


So my question is 

should i continue grinding the full stack devlopment even though competition is at all time high(saw 2000+ applications for 1 intern postion 🤡) and fear of AI(DEVIN)

Study AI/Ml since it's the trending topic. But there aren't many postions jn india 

Learn web3(solana +rust). Many people are telling there is no future in it. But I saw some of my frnds printing money in this tech


So senior software enginnering please 🙏 help your fellow junior

Career Advice

It will be helpful to me whoever see this post and comments your respected opinions on my situation.

I am ome of the regular corporate employees of India who is earning 3.6LPA in reputed MNC working on Java support. As I need assistance on my career and don't know where to ask, posting here . So below are the options I wanted to do but I am confused where and what to start.
1) Should I upskill more on Java only 
2) Should I need to switch to any other domain like AWS, Azure, cybersecurity 
3) Should I need to do any other integrated course which will be available in platforms like Upgrad.

Why these options means, I need to earn a decent salary par with Industry. 
These are the random options in my mind and I am unable to choose one thing. Due to this I am stuck in my career and my friends are earning more than me.

Career dilemma

I have always wanted to prepare DS/Algo like a pro, but have barely survived with my basic skills of that.
How can I do it the right professional way, in a way that makes SDE interviews for Google level easy. 
I have a problem of not being disciplined to grind Leetcode. 
Should I join these coaching classes like Coding Ninja, Scaler and guilt my self into discipline because of money?
Any books?
I know concepts, I just want structure in my prep.

Hey guys, just need your advice I have been 5 years of experience at startups and have open source contributions too and now I want to switch to some good product based companies including FAANG with some good WLB.

I am well versed with topics but I am not very sincere with doing DSA and leetcode regularly. I haven’t practiced daily and now I am looking to do it, but I lack motivation and get frustrated easily.

I am thinking to do a DSA course on weekends, will that be good? Any advice is recommended.

Advice Needed For DSA Course

I (27, Mumbai, India) switched from non-tech background ( commerce) 2 years ago , and started with learning  frontend development and grinded very hard despite all odds. And i recently joined (March to be precise) as a React JS web developer. We are a team of all freshers except for the TL of course. Before getting the job,  I only focused on the web development part and never learned DSA except for solving codewars sometimes. Now, in my non office hours, I try learning DSA and solving codewars/neetcode problems which takes all that time and I am also reading a book on javascript. But sometimes I get into a dilemma, like it happened today, where I wonder if I am correct to learn DSA and improve logic building and dive deep into javascript, OR should I instead invest my non office hours in diving deep into React JS and also improving my CSS skills (where I suck a lil). I really get into this dillema somedays and end up getting anxious. Please tell me what you think. It would be very helpful, and I would be grateful.  Thank you.

Am I doing the right thing? What should I more focus on?

I am not sure but how every influencers have faced everything in their life.
From being yelled by professors in front of whole class to going on foreign trip for first time after they became an influencer.

And all influencers are from tier-3 college, and everyone think going to college is waste and everyone needs to do remote jobs and leetcode.

PS: also saw an influencers who wrote he traveled by train for first time in life in 2022 (his 4th year of college)
