My boss don't want to leave me on time even if I signing in on time.

So, my boss is an absolutely lovely person, and is the best boss I've had so far. Not to brag, but I'm also the best performer in my team, by a mile. So, while I do get my pats on the back, I'm also rewarded with more and more work. I love, atleast so far, what I do, so I didn't mind taking up more work, because I learnt a lot in the process too, and it helped my hone my craft better. Cut to now, I'm losing interest in work. Don't feel like taking up any new work, no matter how exciting the brief, or how great its potential. I feel like I'm burnt out. And majorly demotivated. What makes it worse is seeing this other member in my team chill the absolute fk out. He's hardly even given any important projects because of what a waste resource he is. I've also just been promoted. So, I'm not sure if I should share what's on my mind with my boss. My mind says I shouldn't, but my heart says it should be fine. What should I do about: 1. Telling or not telling my boss what I'm going through (because I'm scared if it'll come back to bite my later) 2. Me feeling extremely burnt out and demotivated. Drop in a joke or two, if you want, but please drop in a serious and genuine reply too.

My manager is making thinly veiled threats about me taking all my allowed leaves. He took me on a 1:1 today and told me that I took too many leaves last year. Then he said that the leadership is concerned about this and added that while I can take more leaves if I want to, it won't be good for me. He then brought up my promotion. It felt like he was using a pending promotion to stop me from taking more leaves. Not sure what I should do. Is this even normal in corporate? I thought our leaves are ours to take but now I'm guilty to take a PTO even for genuine reasons.

Rant I have this person who has been nominated as POC from New Zealand. I have been trying and chasing the person to schedule calls, and till now I have rescheduled 4 times because he is now showing up on the time slots HE communicated. Even though I adjusted my work schedules according to his time slots, given I start my work as per USA timing. That's highly unprofessional. It goes like- Me: Hey! Let me know what time suits you? Him: my calendar is free from so and so. Please schedule 😃 On the day of call Him: Hey can you reschedule to * absurd timings which don't suit IST* Or Him: I'm unable to join, my calendar is blocked I'm so frustrated. I have messaged him ( in corporate speak) that I have already rescheduled so many times based on your schedule ( which you communicated) I would appreciate it if you show up. I am already working beyond my standard working hours for you.

Has anyone noticed how common “Follow ups” is becoming in the workplace? Huge amount of your work hours goes only for “Follow ups” Like you literally have to follow up for the smallest things. Why do I have to remind people to do their part? Ex: I have 1 member who I have been following up for 8 Months for a work that can be done in just 1 day. And he is not the only person I have been following up. Imagine guys, how unprofessional and danger this is to work culture & Company Growth.

I am thinking of leaving my current job and focus on myself, getting to know myself better etc. Currently I have enough money saved for my expenses for next 6-8 months. Everyone I have asked about this say don't leave your job if you don't have another lined up, in this tech winter. I understand their view point. It aligns with what my parents think as well. Is there anyone who has had done this in the past? Do you recommend this route? Are the consequences far too severe? Does anyone have a different opinion from one stated above?

I've had the fortune of having worked in 3 countries so far. India is by far the most exciting place to be in 2024. But there's something about our work ethic that just concerns me. In both white and blue collar. In most other countries, I've observed people strictly sticking to the 9 to 5, working diligently in those hours - not wasting too much time on chai sutta breaks, instagram browsing, gupshup etc. They work for 8 hours, then leave. And think about work directly the next day. In India, most of us spend more hours - but very obviously very few of those hours are productive. In fact, I lately feel that too many people around me are doing even 2-3 hours of work on a good day. We end up just staying around, passing time, and then go back home. When we could have achieved so much more. Work ethic has fallen. Work hours have gone up. We need to be more mindful of our actions, we need to work well at work, and then do well at home. I think it's a function of being over populated. There are 1.5-2 people doing what 1 person should be doing, hence this effect. Needs to be fixed, it's the sign of a major problem in the workforce. Thoughts?

It's been a year I'm working with one company that has good name. But everymonth I have 40% of the time where I work more than 11+hrs (with food and all activities I work 16 hrs sometimes) How do You guys balance this? I tried balancing this but my manager and lead are telling that I'm not taking taking ownership these days. Earlier when I used to work more I delivered on time and took lot of ownership. But when I work less and do just my work or logout after 10 hrs it's affecting this. Happened with anyone?

I see a lot of posts about WLB, I want to know what do you consider as a decent WLB. I will go first. 1. Leave early if the work for that day is done 2. No pings and calls post work hours, there are always exceptions and thats okay, should not become a norm 3. Respecting when someone is in vacation and not disturbing them. 4. Not rejecting leaves I will add more in comments If more comes to my mind.
