Navigating Early Career Challenges in Data Analytics

Data Analyst with 2 years of experience later joined as machine learning researcher for a company abroad(only 3 months). Had to relocate back to India and confused about career. Should I stick on to machine learning or data analytics? Found that machine learning / AI opportunities are less than data analytics in India.

I have been applying for data analyst and junior data scientists role for the last 3 months but not getting enough response. I apply for more than 20+ jobs on daily basis lekin tab bhi kuch nhi ho rha hai. I have built 2 project on ML, 1 on NLP and 3-4 good project on data analytics. I graduated in May 2023 then I decided to learn Data science ( uske pehle bhi college me 3-4 mahine thoda padha tha) now I have so many doubts regarding my career and rejection - Just because I'm fresher that's why they are not choosing me ?? - I'm from non-tech ( Bsc) .. isiliye - or current job market hi accha nhi hai Ab to kabhi kabhi apne decision pr regret bhi hota hai. To solve the experience issue I have decided to do a decent marketing job (only for 6-7months) so that I can show it in my CV aur kuch savings bhi kr lu. Please guide me if you guys have any advice for me. Thanks.

I recently switched to a new comapny with a CTC of 33lpa. Although this is a much better company in terms of work and culture, I feel like I have been low balled. There aren't many options in the market either. Do you think this is a good compensation? Should I try again in a couple of years when market bounces back? Overall YOE: 6.5 DS YOE: 5 Non IT YOE: 1.5

Currently pursuing my Bcom, no idea what to do,

I'm a data scientist and very disgruntled with my current team and manager. It's very clear I would not like to grow in my current team in the long run. A lateral move to another team wouldn't really benefit me (esp. my compensation). I've made a decision to skill up and look for opportunities outside. For context -I am currently making 21lpa at a bank. I have about 2 years of work ex. When I joined my org two years ago, I was making about the same and so I've seen barely any salary growth in the last two years. Questions: 1. Does the market pay higher than this for a data scientist with 2 years of experience? What companies to focus on? 2. What should I focus on to clear interviews? My current was through campus placement so I'm not very experienced with looking for jobs on my own.

I've done my Btech in EC from NIT. Worked for 2Y as a dev in IT Services co. Then I did my MBA from one of the old IIMs. Got placed as a "Consultant" in one IT services co, where JD said the role is client facing and business centric. Have been working here for close to 2Y. Basically I'm part of an Agile project team, as another Dev/QA resource. I basically do QA for project releases and occasional SQL scripting. Tried internally to switch to a Project/BA role but this experience is hindering me. Outside it's even worse as I don't even get shortlisted. I believe I have good skills to excel in Product/BA/Project roles. But not getting them as I don't have any prior experience. My confidence is very low now and my career seems to go nowhere. The pay is also worse, 21.6LPA currently ( of which 17.6 is fixed). I'm not complaining and this money is a lot for most people. But it's not even close to what my juniors after 2 batches earn. The only upside in my job is no pressure and can work remotely most days. What should I do ? Shall I learn AI/ML and move to an Individual Contributor role ? How to get shortlisted for these after prep? Any advice or leads would be helpful, TIA.

Hi Guys, I did a Career Transition in which my base pay got drastically decreased when I Switched from Sales to Data Analytics. People were considering me Fresher and it lead me to accept the offer with less money as well. Now being 1 year in the Analytics industry i am Feeling underpaid and i am getting a standard hike everywhere. What should i do in this case ?

People in tech are in over their heads. There’s been an unsustainable inflation in salaries and somehow 20 somethings have actually started believing their skills are worth what they’re making I speak to so many engineers who just with two years of experience are making 30-40 LPA packages. They actually believe they are better than people in say banking who make the same salary after 15 years of grinding it out. It’s all supply-demand. Supply will soon catch up to the demand. Salary normalization will happen. Your salaries may not grow for years if you don’t personally grow as well in skill set and become more valuable overall. At the least, don’t have an attitude about how much you make. Stay humble. Enjoy the good times while they are still here
